Re: Beer Appreciation

Just wondering if any of you guys have access to any of De Garde or Hill Farmstead beers? If so, would you be willing to ship them to Aus for me? I am happy to pay for the beer, shipping costs and a mark-up for your efforts.

It would be much appreciated!!

Those look like amazing beers, on opposite coasts of the USA. I'll look in my area, South Texas, but no promises. Maybe some other more nearby WhoDat fans can chime in.

Re: Beer Appreciation

Here's a couple of Michigan Craft Beers I sampled while attending the Detroit Boat Show, not bad. Both brewed by Old Nation Brewing Co. in Williamston, MI (wherever that is). The Detroit Dwarf was an Amber Ale and is named for the Nain Rouge, which is an interesting, historical story around the D and one your parents would use to make you behave as a kid,. It really didn't taste like an ale to me, more like a weak Guinness, but I liked it quite a bit. The second one, Two Crow, is a Black Sugar Stout, made with sugar beets, and actually tasted more like an ale to me, go figure. Looks like LSU was up on Texas A&M 72-66 when I snapped that Dwarf pic also, ;) ... you just can't script this stuff sometimes,.

I'll keep an eye out for the De Garde & Hills Farmstead brands, but like Smash said, they're on opposite coasts & I'm not sure how much of them is gonna' make it to the Midwest ... but we'll see, :).

Question for the thread/forum:

So, I'm making it a point to drink a craft beer when I do have a beer. I'm noticing a lot of them have a fruity/orangey taste, even though they don't advertise having that ingredients ... and then when I do drink one with orange/grapefruit in it, it tastes the same as the ones that don't. Sooo, I asked a bartender about it, and she said it had something to do with the amount of hops in the beer? But let's face it, I wasn't really looking for her "expert" opinion, was only sitting at that bar because she was a fricken' hammer, there were no other customers in the place, had her undivided attention and was just trying to spark conversation, :).

What say you, my B&G Beer Appreciation aficionados?
