Is Mayweather the same fighter he was five years ago? I'm seriously asking because I don't know. All's I know is these two guys are supposed to be (pound-for-pound) the two best fighters on the planet and were supposed to fight a couple years ago before it fell through.

No but Mayweather is probably the most polished fighter I have seen in the ring at any weight class. In all of his 40+ professional fights, he has never been knocked down. Style, defensive awareness & the ability to lure an opponent into making mistakes & super efficient (punches landed).

Better late than never ... can't wait to see this one

Re: Pacquiao Mayweather.

Msyweathers style means that he can fight later in life. Manny has been fighting in all out wars with some if the toughest men in boxing. While he has become a better boxer it was amazing hand speed and a stamina that allowed him to fight hard for yhe whole fight. His best chance of beating Mayweather was to swarm him, back him up to the ropes and win the fight by workrate and aggression. He cant do that now and imo he lost a bit of the nasty streak boxers need when he made a mess of both Miguel Cotto and especially Antonio Margarito. By the end he was near pleading with the ref to stop the fight (he smashed his orbital bone).

If anyone is a UFC fan from a while back, this has the hallmarks of the Chuck Liddell vs Wanderli Silva fight. The top 2 men at 205lb for the best part of 5/6 years but by the time they fight, Silva had been in too many wars and though he could still produced was shop worn and convincingly beaten

Re: Pacquiao Mayweather.

Gotcha' both and points well taken, . It would appear that my man Manny is the underdog ... but that's a familiar position for him as the Pilipino peoples have always been the underdogs. I was kinda' wondering if he was loosing his edge back when he was running for political office in the Philippines and stuff, but he kept on winning. He's a national treasure in the R.P., that's for sure, . Wish it was 5yrs ago though, .

Floyd ducted Pac for years.I really think he knew Pac would win in his prime and now it's just about a pay day when Pac has lost his edge. I do hope Pac. beats him like a red-headed stepchild each and every round embarrassing Floyd the entire time.

Lest we forget, Marquez started the decline of Pac already.
