10 Years, 10 words: What Hurricane Katrina meant to you

NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune staffers were among those who lost loved ones and homes to Katrina. Here are some 10-word reflections from our newsroom:

One city, under water, indivisible, with grave injustice for all.
Our city drowned. Together, we loved it back to life.
Katrina's devastation. Our resilience. Won't bow down. Don't know how.
House doesn't matter. Possessions don't matter. Only my family matters.
Didn't flood. Survivor guilt passed. Now I count my blessings.
Met my wife in October 2005. No Katrina, no family.
How much flood water? Two feet ... on the second floor.
The Corps destroyed my home; turned out nobody was responsible.
Didn't flood. House crushed by fallen trees. That sucks, too.
I can not remember when I have cried so much.
Silver lining: Mom and Dad finally learned how to text.
Volunteered to gut houses, cried; came here to live, laughed.

Never forget who you are, or where you came from.

A Hurricane kicked our ass, but we came back strong.

Prayers for the deceased, hope for the survivors, Who Dat!

Katrina set us back, but Atlanta would have stayed down.

I may have moved away, but I'm still a Saint. (OK, not really Katrina related but its 10 words)
