Re: Arrest of girl who texted in class prompts civil rights case
Don't get me wrong, if that was my daughter that cop would be answering to me at some point, regardless, but yeah, my daughter would also be answering to me as to why she didn't follow previous requests by her teacher/school administrator to leave the room.
How you can overlook that girl's role in escalating the situation is beyond me, but there had to be a better way of handling it than throwing her across the room. I had a hockey coach go after my daughter one time like that. She was 100% in the wrong, but I let him know in no uncertain terms is it ever appropriate for a grown man to put his hands on a minor female. |

It's a lot of inconvenience, but it beats losing your job and the inevitable lawsuit the school district is gonna' face.
It's a case of bad policing meeting bad parenting, IMO. |

She appears to be a future thug, but this was over the top.
Her parents are the ones who should have administered discipline. Its debatable whether this incident makes her more or less likely to become a thug. I guess its the parents time to step up. |

Re: Arrest of girl who texted in class prompts civil rights case
If a female officer would have handled the situation, it would not be a story. There's no excuse for her behavior and she should face whatever consequences necessary. The cop was already fired. He paid for his error. She has to be punished as well. In no way shape or form should she be rewarded in a civil court. Back in my day, I would have been whipped atleast once. Now, and way too often, there's simply no consequences for bad behavior. In some cases, it's actually celebrated and rewarded. You screw up, you pay for it. Simple life lesson.

He should have asked her to leave the room and when she refused, tell the teacher that is all he can do and he isn't going to lose his job over her dumb a$$!
