Ex-Saints QB John Fourcade to be named GM of indoor football team
Former New Orleans Saints quarterback John Fourcade is adding another endeavor to his crowded plate – this time more than 1,000 miles away. The local football analyst will serve as the general manager of the New Mexico Stars, a member of American Indoor Football (AIF) based in Albuquerque, N.M.
The move will be announced at a press conference Thursday in Albuquerque with team owner Tracy Duran. Fourcade, 55, has been a part of several indoor football franchises over the past decade or so as a player, coach, general manager and part-owner. A current analyst during the NFL season for WDSU-TV, Fourcade also is the host of the John Fourcade Show, which runs on WHNO-TV. "I'm not doing anything in the spring and summer, and I know (owner Tracy Duran) from when he was in Lafayette. He called and asked me if I'd be interested and I'd be there from the end of March through May, and I told him I could do that," Fourcade said on Wednesday. "He wants me to oversee the operations from a football side and evaluate the players and coaching staff. Also, I might try and help out in finding a few sponsors. read more | |
