Best burger in the area?

I'm always in search of the best of something. Whose got the best burger in your opinion? Take price out of the equation. I know Port of Call is famous and they still have a good burger but it's not what it used to be. They used to be ungodly huge, almost offensively huge but they were awesome. I don't think they are as good as they used to be. I've tried atomic burger in meterie and it was good but it tasted a little "clean" to me. I guess it was the spring mix. Beachcorner can be awesome plus they have little hot ass bartenders cooking them. I have probably had one of the best burgers ever there but they are inconsistent. Give me suggestions

The Counter
Grub Burger Bar

In New Orleans, I could not tell you anymore. I am assuming you're looking for gourmet burgers.

not at all. just a good hamburger period. cheeseburger actually. if its good i dont need any gourmet ingredients. good bread does go a long way though. i think people get too carried away trying to make everything gourmet. some things are meant to be enjoyed for what they are.

Five Guys is probably the best of the fast food burgers, except for price, but I have gotten burgers in small cafes in places that were slap yo momma good!

High Hat Cafe - always a good choice IMO.

Side note - if you ever visit the Dallas downtown area, Stackhouse makes a serious burger. Limited seating but the food (specifically the hamburgers) are very good.
Stackhouse Burgers

Off topic a bit, but my wife discovered the way to cook burgers that may be the best I've ever had in my life.

We grill them half way to texture them (grill marks), then place them in a covered dish on about 400 deg in the oven until done.

The juices drip off the burger with every bite. Good gawd they're awesome!!! And I had to swallow every ounce of my pride to admit that they were better than mine, and I am a freaking grill guru!

Oh, and I'll take Steak & Shake over Five Guys all day long. Although if burgers were healthy I'd alternate between Five Guys, Steak & Shake and Whataburger every day of my life.

Hey Dude
Take a drive across the causeway and grab an N'tini burger at N'tinis in Mandeville. I believe it's made w filet, ground beef and hot sausage.

That is a classic textbook French method of cooking that created fantastic results. More even heat distribution plus once covered it kind of braises in its own juices. I do steaks the same way a lot. It's an especially good method for thick cuts of fish like mahi or bigger snapper. Crank the heat up on the pan till the butter or oil is almost smoking and get a nice golden sear on it. Flip it over and finish in hot oven. I have not tried burgers that way but it makes total sense.

Bottom Line, Swamp Room, Port of Call, The Alibi, Rivershack. The Alibi is on Iberville one block off Bourbon, it is open 24 hrs, is a little shady as many local strippers tend to party there when they are off and their cheeseburger is great. Most popular is Port of Call on Esplanade. Swamp Room on Vets burger may be the best in NO and surely the biggest. Bottom Line was my favorite NO cheeseburger but they now close at like midnight. i used to go there late but I assume its the same burger. Bottom Line is near Fat City. Rivershack has an awesome atmosphere, great food/cheeseburger and is on River Road in Metairie.

On Monday N'Tinis sells their cheeseburger and fries for like 7 or 8 bucks. This is a nice restaraunt and usually a little pricey but thats a great deal. I miss living in Mandeville.
