Am I A Paw Paw, or not?
My wife had a son that has never lived with us.
He was 16 yo when I first met him. I'm not his Dad I didn't raise him He never lived in my house. He's an ok dude. I feel basically, no connection to him other than my Wife's love for him. The turd is 19yo now. His girlfriend is pregnant. They live in Alaxandria. We live in Metairie. My wife is happy. I am ambivalent/irritated. The baby is a baby. I dig other people's babies. My real question is: Am I a Grandparent, if I don't identify as anything in my Wife's kid's life? She is a Grandmother. That is beyond doubt. Am I automatically a Paw Paw? I'm ****ing 47 yo. My own 21 yo son laughs like a loon at the idea of making me a Grandpa! HELP!!!!!!!! I don't want to be a dick but I also don't want to be a phony. |
I'm no one.
Who are you? |

Re: Am I A Paw Paw, or not?
Do what I did when my oldest daughter blessed us with our first grandchild. It's all about persecution. Paw Paw's are old. Grandpas are old. Come up with a catchy name for the new arrival to call you that fits you. Personally, I went with Pops.
BTW, my wife and I have been blessed with surprise grandchildren. They've turned out to be wonderful additions to our family...so far. |
