NFL Week 9 - RISERS
LaGarrette Blount, Buccaneers RB - Could we have a new featured running back entering the fantasy fold? With Cadillac Williams relegated to third down duties, the large, powerful and explosive Blount has taken advantage of his opportunity, rushing for 192 yards and two scores on 33 carries in his last two games. This time last year, he was serving a suspension for punching a Boise State player, and now he’s potentially the next fantasy stud. Raheem Morris loves this guy, and dynasty owners should be excited about his potential. Seasonal owners should add him immediately to gear up for the playoff run.
Danny Woodhead, Patriots RB - The former Jets preseason wonder is getting a lot of reps with Kevin Faulk out for the season. The 25 year old from Chadron State has always looked good running the football despite being 5′9″ and 200 lbs. He has 13 receptions for 125 yards in his last three games and believe it or not, could be a solid bye week fill in for PPR owners over the next two weeks. He’s not someone for long-term owners to get excited about, however. Brandon Tate, Patriots WR - Well, it took a few weeks after the Randy Moss trade, but the super-talented WR from North Carolina to start at WR and have a solid game - three catches for 101 yards and a score. He may not get a ton of targets, but he’s definitely a big play threat worth a look in non-PPR formats that award bonuses for big plays. He’s a potential every-week starter in return yardage leagues. With Deion Branch suffering with a hammy injury, there could be a lot of upside here. Darrius Heyward-Bey, Raiders WR - Finally, the Raiders saw some production out of their top pick in 2009, as DHB hauled in five passes for more than 100 yards and a score in Week 8. He also added a 30 yard carry for a Raiders offense that is looking better and better each week. Don’t expect this type of production from DHB over the next few weeks, but this performance is encouraging for his dynasty value. He, and his situation, have always reminded me of Roddy White circa 2005. I don’t care what anyone else says, he’s worth a dynasty league stash if you’ve got the patience. David Garrard, Jaguars QB - A five TD performance (four passing, one rushing) in Week 8 proves that Garrard is back following a concussion that kept him out a week ago. Given that the Jags secondary is their Achilles heel, look for Garrard to need to throw often. He won’t get a ton of yardage, but has thrown for two or more TDs in all but two of his full games this season. Michael Vick, Eagles QB - After Kevin Kolb’s disappointing Week 7 performance at Tennessee, it looks like the door is back open for Vick to start Week 9. He says he’s 100 percent, and while there hasn’t been an official announcement yet from Andy Reid, Vick is a nice add this week, and could be a great spot starter against the Colts. LINK |

I've had to start Blount on a couple squads this week, though I don't like his matchup against the birds. I'm thinking trade bait if he pans out the next couple weeks.
