Boo! hsss! They shoulda' went with the AHL format of a seven minute 4-on-4 OT period until the first whistle after the 3-minute mark, then on to 3-on-3 for the remainder of the OT & totally scrap the shoot-out, IMO, but right to 3-on-3? IDK,
