That was a sweet goal, Stamkos was a big-time goal scorer when he played for the Sarnia Sting a few years back too ... that's one of the nearby OHL teams I go watch on occassion.

Thanks for the welcome! Wasn't one of my favorites when he played but I now completely understand the saying "Yzerman is God".....even if he did ship off Downie....

Yzerman is one of the most respected and loved athletes to ever have played in Detroit, in any sport ... around here, he's as close to a god as you're gonna' get.

I remember when they drafted him, Mike Illitch had just bought the team and we were known as the 'dead Wings' ... Stevie Y was just 18/19 and he used to put 'em in the net like Stamkos, back then. Played his whole career with Detroit, a rarity these days ... and is probably only second to the legendary Gordie Howe in popularity. Ask anyone in Detroit who the 'Captain' is and they'll tell you, "Stevie Y".

He's a class act and I'll be surprised if he doesn't eventually take Tampa to a Stanley Cup. You guys'll start calling him, "the General Manager" ... bet.

I know there was a group that started referring to him as "Jedi Master Yzerman", kind of partial to that.
