If you want instant, daily, or weekly alerts for a Discussion, Forum or Group, go to the Discussion/Forum/Group tools pull-down menu (on the RH side of the title bar) and it'll give you the option of 'subscribing' to the thread and you'll be able to select 'notifications' and any level you'd like to be told there's new posts, ie instant, daily, weekly, none.
