... well, I didn't post it because, a) since it is a hockey group on an NFL board & not a Detroit board, didn't know how many people would care, b) I was kinda' in mourning, and c) I was also going fishing up in your neck of the woods (Mecosta Chain Lakes, Tubbs Lake, whatever it's called) and didn't have time to post.
Glad I didn't though, Crusader did one hell-of-a-lot better job posting it up then I would of,

It was a sad day in the SloMotion household, I watched Lidstrom from back in his Swedish Elite League (Valsteras, #9) days and was overjoyed when he came to the Red Wings ... I had the privilege to see this guy skate many times & will now include him in my list of, "great athletes I've seen play", which includes Wayne Gretzky, Gordie Howe, Michael Jordan, Bobby Orr, Al Kaline, Joe Montana, Hank Aaron, Nolan Ryan, et..., you get my drift ... #5 was the guy I used to tell my kids to watch when I was trying to teach them to play and needed an example of a 'smart' defenseman and a guy with skills ... in his retirement speech, he even 'thanked' the guy who fills the water bottles at the games ... class act all the way, Nick Lidstrom was one of a kind ... and yes, Detroit will be retiring the #5.
