watched this and something bugged me. Yes, it is amazing that these guys are raising awareness for the cause and I'm stoked that it's a Bolt at an event started by a former Bolt but seriously I hate how NHL players talk about safety issues and then go on ice w/o using their straps or utilizing visors. Kind of a mixed message...won't someone think of the children?!
I know what you mean, IDK if you call it the hypocripsy of professional sports or what, but it's something I saw affecting amatuer sports all the time. The kids are made to wear all the safety equipment and wear it correctly, but when they watch the pros, those guys are out there (like you said) with loose or no chinstraps, no mouthguards, visors, et... Pro athletes are given a latitude in the wearing of safety equipment amatuer athletes are not, and as soon as an amatuer athlete can, they disregard as much equipment as they can, just like the pros.
It's nice they're raising awareness of concussions & injuries, but they can't have it both ways, lawsuits will see to that. The game is gonna' be changing.
