I hadn't really thought about it in those terms, I took it more as a general expression, and I'm sure he didn't mean anything condescending or disrespectful by it, but of course you could be pulling my leg once again, and I just took the bait hook, line and sinker.

BTW, have you heard any solid rumors about Detroit going after either Nash or Doan? And if you have, what type of packages have they been speculating would make those deals happen, especially meaning Nash of course being under contract?

I know the Sharks had been discussing with the Columbus, but Columbus apparently would want a package with Couture for Nash, and that hardly seems sensible with the inflated cap hit Nash would bring along with him, and I don't think he'd produce much more points than Couture will. The other player Columbus is rumored to be interested is Pavelski, but it's once again the same thing as with Couture, so I don't think Nash will end up with the Sharks.

Now Doan is a different deal altogether, and according to his agent, they are in talks and there's mutual interest from both sides, but once again that is what an agent says always, so I wouldn't place too much trust in that.

The Sharks definitely need more offensive power, and the injection of a top 6 forward would do just that, because that would allow them to drop Pavelski from the top 6 and place him as the 3rd line center, taking a crucial step towards having those elusive 3 scoring lines. Then Thornton, Marleau, Couture, Havlat, Clowe, and Doan could make up the top 6 with Pavelski centering maybe Burish and Wingels.

The Sharks do have about $6.5M left in cap room, so we'll see if they can/will make a real push to sign Doan.
