Yeah, while I do think they did as well as can be expected, I wouldn't call it "impressive" & agree the media has been pouring it on a bit ... I do think soccer has evolved in the US quite a bit though, to the point where it's reasonable now to have expectations of them making it to the quarterfinals vs just qualifying/making it into the 'sweet sixteen'.
The whole Donovan thing had me confused and I thought maybe it was a 'chemistry' thing. Some of his comments lead me to believe he might be the prima-donna/high maintenance type guy on a club, IDK ... we definitely could have used more of a goal scoring punch, that's for sure.
One thing for certain though (IMO), with the ratings on this World Cup and the success/popularity of the US team, you're gonna' see more & more advertisers get on board with the sport & that's when the real successes will come,
