This is always the debate I guess. I give it to SRV between the two because he took Hendrix songs and played them better than Hendrix did, IMO. I definitely don't discount Hendrix, and SRV would not be the player he was without that influence. Put them both on the stage and I think SRV outshines Hendrix (but what an awesome thing that would be).
