No kidding! WTH took them so long? I'da thought they got in the original inauguration! I actually used to like 'Highway Star' better than 'Smoke on the Water', .

Everyone has their own tastes, I happen to like The Who more than Led Zepplin

, technically, probably not ... they are kind of an acquired taste, I suppose. Rode the popularity of their Machine Head album pretty hard. They were one of the first heavy metal type bands I remember and maybe they somehow paved the way?
Saw Ritchie Blackmore a few times at a small venue in Royal Oak, MI when he was with Rainbow ... he could wail pretty good & they were pretty loud, . |

HOF is getting more of these right, finally. Deep Purple is very deserving.
Cheap Trick deserves it too. Great original music and they also had quality covers of the Beatles and Elvis. I'm happiest for Chicago, seeing them live and hearing the horns fire up over those great songs is bucket-list stuff if you haven't checked them out. Some people may not agree with NWA, but Straight Outta Compton and Eazy E's first record were landmarks. Today's hip hop is such an embarrassment. |
