Tebow struggles in Senior Bowl, 'open' to work on fundamentals

Florida quarterback Tim Tebow looked shaky while running a pro-style offense against a sturdy defense, fumbling twice during the South's 31-13 loss to the North in Saturday night's Under Armour Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala.

Tebow completed 8 of 12 passes for 50 yards, but his longest completion in the showcase for senior NFL prospects was 11 yards. He never was turned loose as a power runner, like he was in college, and netted just 4 yards on four carries.

Tebow battled strep throat early in the week, but [..... Read the rest here .... ]

Re: Tebow struggles in Senior Bowl, 'open' to work on fundamentals

tebow sucked in the senior bowl

however, there were 2 heroes that barely even get mentioned

1 guy from UM named brandon graham who ended up being MVP of the game from the DE position

another guy from UC named mardy gilyard who is versatile enough to play special teams and WR and be the fastest guy on the field at both

2 guys that played very well yet dont get any recognition because somebody by the name of tebow also played in that game and played like ****

heres the deal.......give players that play well credit......if a star player doesnt play well, then he obviously isnt a star player

I don't think you thought this statement out too much.

Are you saying that Tebow was never a star college player because he sucked, IYO, at the Sr. Bowl?

im saying that the senior bowl is supposed to separate the stars going into the NFL from the average players who will maybe struggle to make an NFL roster

some players were able to separate themselves and some proved that they are not NFL caliber

Tebow is considered one of the best college players of all time.....not by me tho

his stats should speak for themselves.....but to me is a single player on a great team coached by one of the best.......tim tebows freshman and sophomore years were some of the best recruiting classes of all time by a college

tebow was just 1 of many.....he didnt put up the numbers in the passing game that an elite college QB would......instead he put his numbers up on the ground......like ive said before, any good RB is interchangeable when you have a great offensive line......that is something that tebow has had for years

and tebow is a running back that throws the ball, not a QB that runs it

everyone knows that the jets are the best rushing team in the league. but nobody considers thomas jones an elite running back.......well tebow is in the same situation IMO but because he plays QB he gets more credit than he deserves

in essence, if you cant perform well against top tier talent then you arent top tier talent

gilyard and graham did just that.......tebow did not

Re: Tebow struggles in Senior Bowl, 'open' to work on fundamentals

Tebow, playing his 55th and final game as a Gator, threw for a career-high and BCS record 482 yards, with three touchdown passes and another on the ground to lead Florida (13-1) to a 51-24 blowout victory over No. 3 and previously undefeated Cincinnati (12-1). Tebow set a BCS record with 533 total yards and threw for 320 yards and three touchdowns in the first half alone, leading the Gators to scores on their first five drives of the game and a 30-3 lead at halftime
I can see why you pay this performance no heed...being it was against a weak, Ohio team. But let's look a little further at the accomplishments Urban Meyer got for Tebow...

Season Team GP Rating Att Comp Pct Yds TD INT Sack Att Yds TD
2006 Florida Gators 14 201.7 33 22 66.7 358 5 1 0 89 469 8
2007 Florida Gators 13 172.5 350 234 66.9 3286 32 6 13 210 895 23
2008 Florida Gators 14 172.4 298 192 64.4 2747 30 4 15 176 673 12
2009 Florida Gators 14 155.6 304 213 70.1 2895 21 5 25 217 910 14
Totals 55 176.0 985 661 67.1 9286 88 15 53 692 2947 57

Yeah...he really screwed up in 2009 when he let his rating drop to 155.6.

And then there's these comments from a couple of unknowns...

According to former Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Jon Gruden, he could "revolutionize" the pro game. Says Gruden: "Tim Tebow is 250 pounds, and he's the strongest human being that's ever played the position. He can throw well enough at any level." Former Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy said he would pick Tebow with a top 10 pick, and would take him over any quarterback in the 2010 draft.
But what do they know...and yeah, fwiw, a better known and much more respected Mel Kiper doesn't have him going so high...maybe 2nd or 3rd round...

A few accomplishments along the way...

Re: Tebow struggles in Senior Bowl, 'open' to work on fundamentals

im not disputing his talent at the college level.......but when he was playing against the best of the best at the college level he struggled

when there was a coach that was making him run a pro style offense, he struggled

hes not the accurate QB that manning and brees are but he does have a strong arm........he makes average decisions with the ball because he believes in his arm strength but lacks the accuracy to fit it into tight windows

he plays in a wide open spread offense that favors crossing routes and mismatches

we've all been fed tim tebow since his freshman year at florida by the media and we've all watched our fair share of the boy wonder

he was a great college player, but hes just not designed to be a pro QB....

im sure if he falls in with the right coach or system then he would be ok....nobody questions his work ethic and everybody knows how he is off the field

but i saw enough during the senior bowl to know that he just isnt the star QB that many believe he can be or already is

this is all im going off of really......he played great at florida and it would be nice to see him prove everybody wrong and do well at the next level

granted i know only a few things about what a QB position actually requires but just watching Tebow in the senior bowl made me wish he hadnt even tried to play in it......tony pike, the QB whos team he demolished in the bowl game this year, had a much better day than tebow
