Cowgirls vs. Tampons

Tonight at 7:20 (or so) Central time on NBC. At least we can tune in to see Drew on the pre-game show at 6:00!

How do we not pull against the Yuks? As much as I despise the Cowgirls, I am tempted to wear blue and silver and "yeehaw" them to victory.

No can do for me, AG. My hate for Dallas runs deep. Though I won’t root for Tampa either, just hope Dallas loses. Necessary evil

These kinds of games and the two glaring Saints losses em route to the SB are prime examples. At least, number 35 for Tampon was getting called more for holding and PI for their press coverage, not that it matters on how they were officiating OPI.

I just caught him at halftime. Thought he did well. He actually looked younger, but I'm sure they put makeup on him.

I thought he was sharp. Gave a quick synopsis, eye contact with the camera and a smile while doing it.. Brees is good for tv thats for sure 👌

So did he take Rodney Harrison’s spot?

Show me proof of fixed a NFL games. The fixing of an NFL game is a federal offense. The gambling industry is all over these games and would come down on actual fixing in a second.

There are, however, tons of games over time with officials' calls that as one source put it, "will boggle one's mind," but they are more incompetence than anything.

Has there ever been fixing of pro sports? Absolutely, and it is impossible to keep it hidden and is eventually discovered.

OPI rarely gets called, especially when the game is on the line. Officials are just hesitant to throw a flag. That is bad officiating and has nothing to do with the game being fixed.

As for the Saints, the no call against the Rams was simply a total screw up by the officials and had nothing to do with fixing a game. An NFL game could not be fixed without several people being involved and there is no way with all of the money involved that everyone would keep their mouths shut. The gambling industry avoids anything that smells of impropriety like the plague as not reporting any concerns could cost them their license and billions of dollars.

The NFL has FAR too much to lose to ever fix a game. That is a fact.

My dislike for the Cowboys is particularly sharp, when I think of the good

I have eyes and a brain. I’ve seen the proof in what is and is not called. It’s not hard to see that the NFL was set to make more money if LA made the SB instead of the Saints a few years back when they screwed them. It’s not hard to see that they are selling this year to be a Brady love fest. Media mouthpieces are already talking about him finally getting his perfect season to avenge the SB loss of his 19-0 Pats team.

I watched that game last night with a dozen other guys at a poker tourney, most of them Pats fans pulling for Brady. Every one laughed about the end admitting it was a blown call and bragged about how Brady always got those types of calls. To a man they agreed there was no way the refs were NOT going to give Tampa a chance to at least attempt a FG on the last drive. Holds against the D line weren’t called throughout that drive. It was as predictable as the outcome of fistfight between me and my 5 YO nephew.

As I posted to start Guido, you (of all people) aren’t going to convince me it’s not rigged. Show me proof that these “blown calls” that happen at such crucial times aren’t fixes. You believe it Because the NFL says so. I don’t.

Super early but Tampa's defense is suspect. They had 4 offensive turnovers yet still was able to win. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.

Dallas blew an opportunity.

Was hoping the game ended in a tie.

LOL! You can't prove crap because it isn't rigged. Can it be better officiated? Absolutely! You are living in a fairytale world hoping to explain away horrible calls and bad breaks.

As for the game last night, it's not a fix that the final drive was successful. Holding seldom gets called. Nor does OPI. That's not a fix, it's sorry officiating. Nothing more, nothing less. What does an official have to gain by purposely making bad calls? Nothing. What he has to lose is grading which could cost him his job. Refs have always swallowed their whistles in those situations. That doesn't mean anything is rigged.

Missed kicks cost Dallas the game. Simple as that.

Tampa is tough against the run, but can be shredded by the pass.

Michael Gallup (WR) has a calf strain and is out 3-5 weeks & now I see La'el Collins has been suspended by the NFL for 5 games without pay for violation of NFL substance abuse.

You can add LOL to your posts all you want Guido it doesn’t give the argument any additional merit. Your analogy is quite wrong. we both could look at the sky and agree on the color. What we saw in this last football game was clearly a call that should have been made regarding offensive PI. That is looking at the sky and agreeing on the color. Do you disagree that an offensive PI should’ve been called on that last Tampa drive? If not, then you don’t know football. If so, then That is agreeing with me on the sky color.

If you think that was a PI that should have been called on tampa, like I do, the. the question is why it was not called. You say incompetence, I say designed. Neither has more validity than the other. Neither has more proof than the other. You are arrogant and incorrect when you compare your position to asserting the sky is blue. But haters gonna hate.

No telling.

La'el had so much promise coming out of LSU. Agile, powerful & quick. He's come into Oxnard camp on several occasions overweight & out of shape. I thought he'd be an All Pro by now :(.

Glad he's Jerry/Stephen's problem and not ours.

Yes. It probably should have been called. There are many OPI's that are not called in the NFL. But, that in no way makes it fixed or rigged as you claim. That is what is so laughable. You try to associate poor officiating with a league wide conspiracy to fix outcomes. Please.

The officials in the NFL are part time. The game moves fast. They are going to make mistakes. OPI is just one of those calls that is under enforced. There's nothing nefarious about that.

I gave you several concrete reasons why fixing NFL games would be virtually impossible in today's world.

There are two types of substance violations - PED and substance abuse. Two different sets of rules. Collins would have to have been dinged for some recreational drug. And it wouldn't have been his first. They get an initial warning and placed in "the program". I don't think the five game suspension takes place until the third violation.

Onyemata got hit by the PED version which carries an immediate six game suspension for what was likely a tainted supplement. Both are over the top, but the NFLPA signed off on it in the latest CBA.

My concrete reasons are completely logical and based in fact. The NFL has nothing to gain and everything to lose by rigging games. The NFL receives the same revenue regardless of who wins any given game. It is the networks that benefit by better matchups. However, a scandal involving fixing games could cost them billions and land dozens of individuals in the federal pen.

As I also pointed out, gambling authorities have divisions that do nothing but investigate possible improprieties including fixing of games. That's basically what brought down the referee scandal in the NBA several years ago.

There is even a greater reason why it is impossible to get away with fixing games. Every official would have to be in on it. Everyone in the league office would have to be involved. Everyone would have to keep it secret. You know that is impossible.

I understand the frustration, but it is not because the games are rigged. It is the officiating. Pure and simple. And I will readily admit THAT is on the NFL and could be addressed by fulltime officials and greater use of replay.

Wrong again. It’s just not worth the effort. Ratings drive the league. The league ratings soar when certain teams/players win. It’s not rocket science. You would argue against one plus one equaling two.

Ratings don't mean crap when it comes to trying to fix games. The point you are are completely missing, or more like refusing to acknowledge, is that it is impossible in today's world to rig outcomes in NFL games. It cannot be done. It is logistically impossible.

Motive is not the issue. The issue IS that there is no way to get away with intentionally rigging NFL outcomes. It cannot be done without being exposed.
