NFL GAMES ACCOUNT FOR 75 OF THE 100 MOST-WATCHED BROADCASTS OF 2021

In a year marked by a pair of ratings-hogging quadrennial events and a whole lot of Beltway intrigue, the NFL in 2021 effectively swallowed TV whole, accounting for 41 of the top 50 most-watched programs, and 75 of the top 100. In doing so, the league not only silenced the torrent of uninformed hooting and clucking that greeted last season’s COVID-related ratings declines, but it also justified the huge rights-fee increases it brokered with its legacy partners.

The NFL’s Kung Fu Grip on the American psyche is as crushing as it’s ever been, with overall deliveries across the regional and national TV windows up 9% versus the year-ago period. Bear in mind that those increases are being notched as overall TV usage continues to fade; per Nielsen, the number of people tuning in to linear TV over the course of this season is down 10% compared to the analogous time frame in 2020.

That downturn coincides with the ongoing erosion of traditional pay-TV customers. Given that the number of homes that subscribe to the cable/satellite bundle had dropped 9% to 69.7 million at the end of the third quarter—just seven years ago, the count was north of 100 million households—the 11% lift ESPN served up with its Monday Night Football package is all the more impressive.

Why on Earth would the NFL side up with Vegas? LOL And why on Earth would the NFL broadcast those stupid slime games on Nick? Here's why.

Fake News on some fronts... I'd wager the true numbers lie somewhere in between. Teams in LA now skew the numbers some.. Maybe we should poll the fans in St Louis? Also how do they count viewership? If a casual channel surfer sees the score on the channel and then flips to other channels or worse yet YooToob content or some other streaming source, does the snippet of time count as a solid 3-4 hours?

I hardly watch anymore... don't even subscribe to NFLNetwork. I can catch the relevant news in mere seconds rather than watching empty-ish content. I don't have the time anyway.

Also the gambling aspect has been so imbedded, it brings doubt to the true honest outcome to a game which is supposed to have no predetermined outcome. The Thrill Is Gone . Isn't that a song somewhere?

This is a discussion Guido has no business attempting. And he's not discussing anyway, he's just dropping by "iamright dot com" and using other people's words. The title of the thread is his attempt at taking a shot at the other side of the argument, because he's an arrogant obnoxious little piss ant. This is why he lost his mind with the title of one of JPs threads and reported it. He's sweating it because HE does it. That's what my ex-wife does, and she's a little just like gueedo...

Anyway, you hit on it. So much skews the numbers. Neilson can't screen streaming, but my company can. That's what we do. Adsense is where I got my start...well, the now defunct adsense for radio (Google). We schedule the commercials for just about every media outlet you can access. We manage both buy and sell side advertising. We have all the major networks, local affiliates and cable outlets. We have the largest radio and television (cable, streaming, terrestrial, satellite, local, and so much more) footprint in the hemisphere. I'm only saying all this because Guido is an IDOT pushing false information just like Roger wants him to. He wouldn't know the truth if it kicked him in the pecker. Because he clearly doesn't understand how this works (like just about everything else), and I'm not so sure little gueedo even has a pecker.

The NFL is BIG money, of course - always will be, just like MLB. The NBA.
Political advertising, etc. Believe me when I tell you the NFL is VERY worried about 18-49. Very worried. Without it they can't expand, and the last thing they want is a stagnant or declining customer base...which is what it is dangerously close to as we type. Just ask MLB.

The NFL is always going to make money, but if Roger doesn't get that demographic back in a big way the NFL WILL shrink. Take the word of our ignorant little , and the "lazy media" as little calls them (ironically), or just look around. It's complicated, yes, but it ain't rocket science.

C'mon Man...

Halo would be very interested in your experience with AdSense. We need some tweaks to get BnG self-sustaining .

Re: Bad news for the "NFL's in decline" crowd

Sigh. You'll never understand.

If you could stop feeding your ego long enough to read between the lines you might understand, but you're an idiot...not ignorant, i-d-i-o-t.

Those numbers these "lazy" (your word little idiot) reporters (and you, little idiot) are using are from which demographic? Do that homework and get back to me...

...after you unblock me of course...
