Re: ESPN Layoffs

ESPN lays off a big chunk of staff the same day the new pathetic Indiana Jones movie comes out which will bomb epically. You can't tell me it isn't all related.

For some of these people though it's good riddance. I liked Jalen Rose the player, can't stand the talking head version!

Re: ESPN Layoffs

Love to know the thought process behind deciding who got laid off. Was it salary related? Looking at some of the layoffs it doesn't seem to be.

And what about their broadcast contracts with leagues and/or conferences? Should the leagues/conferences start to worry about getting paid?

This is all coming from the parent company of Disney. They have plenty of capital. But, from what I read it was salary based mainly. Staying lean means greater profits.

Re: ESPN Layoffs

Disney with their recent shenanigans has seen a sharp drop in revenues. It's probably all related to that. That being said, Stickman's point is valid. Also should the recipients of these contracts have to worry now about subpar coverage since the layoffs affect the quality of the broadcasts. Do they even care if the revenues continue to come in? What happens to the new college super conferences if ESPN can't pay up? New talent isn't necessarily bad talent , it's just cheaper . We've seen them be selective as to who they move on from. They did bring back a few guys after they realized the error of their decision.

Don't really keep up with the college coverage.

Their college coverage isn't bad. I've watched some Tulane games where Mike Golic Jr. was the color guy and he is pretty good.

Overall, can't complain.

I've even watched some Southeastern games on ESPN+. LION UP!!
