JaMarcus Russell is pushing 300lbs

JAMARCUS NEARING THREE BILLS?

Kudos to the reader who pointed out to us a riveting nugget buried in a free-agency review from Don Banks of SI.com.

Per Banks, there are rumors that Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell is closing in on 300 pounds.

Three. Hundred. Pounds.

He's officially listed on the team's web site at 255.

If Russell is indeed up to 300 pounds, he'd take over the crown of heaviest NFL quarterback from Giants backup Jared Lorenzen, who is listed at 285.

Then again, if the Lord of the Ring Dings is officially listed at 285, our guess is that he's already north of 300.

If he's heavier than Lorenzen...that's sad...especially being a #1 draft pick...I hear he is on the Twinkie and Ding Dongs Diet...latest west coast diet fad I suppose

According to two Raiders team officials, JaMarcus Russell does not weigh 300 pounds and has been working out at team headquarters since season's end.

"Ridiculous," said a front-office employee, speaking on condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to speak on the issue. "JaMarcus is nowhere near that. He's been here. He's been working out. He's in great shape. That's something everyone's going to see at our first minicamp."
