N/S:Mount Cody Even Bigger
I wanted the Saints to nab this gut in the Draft ....not any more
Alabama Football, NFL, Senior Bowl » Mount Cody is even bigger By Mike Herndon January 25, 2010, 1:46PM Mike Kittrell/Press-Register photographerAlabama nose tackle Terrence Cody tipped the scales at 370 pounds at Senior Bowl weigh-ins Monday.Terrence "Mount" Cody, the mountain in the middle of Alabama's defense this year, tipped the scales at 370 pounds during weigh-ins Monday for the Senior Bowl in Mobile -- which is not a good thing. "It hurts," NFL network draft analyst Mike Mayock said of Cody's weigh-in. "And it a wasn't clean 370." Cody, who was listed at 354 prior to the 2009 season and at 365 on the Senior Bowl's initial roster, is already somewhat limited in the draft by the prevalent view that he is best suited as a 3-4 nose tackle, when many NFL teams play a 4-3. Mayock said his weight and conditioning would be the top questions he'd need to answer during Senior Bowl week, which is essentially a job interview for April's NFL draft. "How many quality snaps you get out of him is going to be directly proportionate to what kind of shape he's in," Mayock said of Cody Mount Cody is even bigger | Sports from the Press-Register - al.com |

Re: N/S:Mount Cody Even Bigger
there isnt a better NT in this draft IMO
i think he is clearly the best many people think he is better suited at 3-4 because of his size and lack of mobility however i think he would do just fine for us and heres why at 360 pounds(350 would probably be his NFL weight)......he will not be moved.....if he gets stood up he has already been beaten accordin to most linemen......but if he gets stood up, all 6-4 of his frame and 350 lbs will be tryin to get back down into the correct form and nobody is going to move him the best thing about him is that he takes more than 1 blocker to contain him........considering how much we blitz, that creates lots of mismatches on the offensive line......if cody can manipulate 2 blockers then vilma, shanle, fujita, and whoever else we blitz will get through not to mention the huge impact that will have on ellis and will smith because of their own ability to get off man-on-man blocks |

Re: N/S:Mount Cody Even Bigger
cant judge the future solely on the past
sullivan was a fluke draft pick our draft scouts are a lot better now than they were back then i compare him more to a shaun rogers kind of guy very disruptive.....very big and fast......cant be blocked......listed at about 350 but probably plays heavier than that cody will be listed at about 350 in the NFL.....he will probably play closer to 360 tho the only issue would be on 3rd downs when we needed to take him out and sub in a faster DT, unless we were blitzing.....then keep him in and control the line |

Re: N/S:Mount Cody Even Bigger
As a Bama fan I saw this guy play for 2 years. He moves like he is much smaller. (He can dunk, seriously, google it) Hence how he blocked two FGs against TN.
Also, he is a 3-4 NT. He is suppose to eat space and runs, not be super mobile. He did exactly that against some of the best SEC RBs. Also he can rush the passer, though not his specialty. However we have bigger needs and we aren't a 3-4 D though we do give 3-4 looks at times. |

many 3-4 teams are known for their blitz packages....the saints are one of the few 4-3 teams that blitz a lot and do it well with the addition of a DT that plays like a 3-4 DT we will be able to blitz much better because of his ability to take on blockers |
