Congrats to the Saints from a Patriots fan
I will start off by saying I am absolutely delighted for the New Orleans Saints, their fans, the City of New Orleans and Louisana.
I think Sean Payton, Drew Brees, Mickey Loomis and Tom Benson deserve so much credit for the what has happened to the Saints since Katrina. I thought it was very fitting that it was Miami where Brees put on one of the performances ever in a Superbowl. He could have taken the easy option and joined the Dolphins instead of make a life changing commitment to New Orleans both on and off the field back in 2006. I regularly post on a site called patsfans.com and prior to the Saints game we had some Sainst fans visit the site. These fans were without doubt the most intelligent and mannerly fans I've come across on the internet in my time. I've visited New Orleans and the people are real friendly too. Of course there were some upsides for us Patriot fans too, we had to listen to the media annoint Manning the best of the decade as if he had already won his second superbowl and praise Polian for not going for an unbeaten regular season. We had to listen to the Colts being annointed the team of the decade, yet again before the Superbowl had been decided. I do think that this will not be a one off win. I think as long as Payton and Brees are with the Saints they will contend for Championships. Anways I'm just totally delighted for all the people I mentioned above. The Saints are my favourite team outside of the Patriots. Its no longer a Brady vs Manning debate either, its now a three way debate with Drew Brees front and center in that debate. It was a fantastic achievement and may more good times follow for all the people of New Orleans and for Saints fans. Good luck all. Eagle. |

Coach Payton, and Drew Brees have used the Patriots organization as a reference, to what they want to achieve in N.O. numerous times. Perennial play off contenders, with a great head coach, and great talent scouts. I take this as a complete complement. And I will say this, I could definately see a Saints/Patriots superbowl in the future. Almost happened in 06.
