My first thought was that it was a bad move for Shanahan. But the defense was pretty good last night.

The Saints have had worse coaches in their history. After everything went his way in his first season, he thought his coaching decisions and personel moves were bulletproof. He was wrong. His downfall began with starting an injured Brooks over Delhomme. Start Delhomme. Make the playoffs. Who knows how far they go? Regardless, it's a good season. Maybe they land a key free agent or two in the offseason. The lockerroom doesn't get divided. A different place in the draft may land a better player or two. There's a fine line between success and failure. It took Payton two years of average records to understand he needed Williams for the defense.
