Vick Tabbed as #1
So Michael Vick has been given the job in Philly. I can't say I'm surprised, and I'd bet the rest of the team is excited about the decision too.
As a big dog lover, I was ready to have Vick put away for as long as the law would allow...and then another few years. I completely detest what he did, why he did it, and the excuses he made after the fact. This man took intelligent animals and trained them to kill each other, and when they didn't meet his expectations, he killed them by hand in the most gruesome ways imaginable. His actions were inexcusable in my humble opinion, and I'm not sure I could ever forgive him. Not that he cares. However, I recognize that society made its decision on Vick, and while I disagree with the length of his punishment, he did his time and we (I) must accept that. He's been essentially invisible in his two-year retirement from prison, and as far as I am aware he hasn't reverted to his old ways of killing man's best friends. I have to admit I'm happy for him. I can only imagine how he feels, and whether he is a rehabilitated abuser of animals or not, his journey back couldn't have been a very happy time. One thing is for sure. The balance of power may not have shifted in the East, but the ground is definitely moving. It's going to be fun watching teams try to deal with everything Vick brings to the game. I can't help but wonder if The Falcons would trade Mattty "Ice" (that's the most ignorant nickname I've ever heard) to Philly to get Vick back. |

My opinion, he's one of the most overrated QBs in history. I felt that way before we all knew about the dog fighting.
Yes, he's a great athlete but that doesn't make him a great QB. In his days with the Falcons, he made some amazing plays that were fun to watch and made ESPN headlines. 99% of those plays were about running as opposed to passing. When he's in the pocket, he's very average. Eventually, the average linebacker will be faster than him and he'll have to completely rely on his arm. I think he'll choke. If he wins a Super Bowl, I'll shut up. |

I like Vick! Hated him when he was a Falcon. But I always had respect for his game. He deserves the job in Philly. Andy Reid knew riots would break out in Philly if Kolb had a bad game this week...

I'm not sure of your source, but I heard on ESPN last night that Kolb was starting this week.

NFL.com news: Vick must capitalize on starting job for Eagles, himself
I feel like you do saintfan. I am a dog lover myself. However, he has served his time and has been punished for that crime. I am happy for him (in a way) and hope he does the best with this opportunity at a second chance that he has put himself into. Good luck but I still hope y'all don't make it to the playoffs. |

Still, I am happy for him. He did his time and he's back. He has earned the right to be where he is. I'm so conflicted. I need some whiskey. LOL |

Andy Ried made the right call, Kevin would of gotten killed behind that swiss cheese offensive line they have right now in Philly. Vick gives them the best chance to win now not 3 years from now.
I don't agree that Vick is in the league now but he is and its good to see that he has turned his life around enough to get another chance to shine in the NFL |
