A short rant - NFL Football on Tuesday?!
IMO, this rescheduling has little to do with the weather in Philly and even less to do with football. It is a blatant money-grab by the NFC and NBC to rake in a little more money before the NFL labor negotiations continue and an attempt possibly milk a Favre-Vick marquee matchup on-the-fly.
I'm not sure why it upsets me so much. Possibly because it represents what the NFL is becoming - a league of billionaires who care zilch about football and its traditional and change whatever they want just to make $$$. |

There are enough games played per season.
I don't think the players' union will let that one. More than 16 games, you mess up the product. The players and the game get watered down and boring. NFL football is a hard game on their bodies. If you add more games to the season, more players will be going on IR. More players will play with less luster. I don't see that happening. Preseason has 4 games and 16 for the regular season plus playoffs, that is a lot of games. Superbowl is a big money maker for all: host city, teams' cities, players, networks, performing entertainers at concerts and halftime, and more. Each NFL team wants ,of course ,a chance to have a Superbowl, but logically speaking, you cannot have one in these Northern states. Even if these states like Minn. would get a domed staduim, the weather outside is still where people are stranded from flights, trying to get around in 3 feet of snowand such. I don't see this happening either. I remember once for a Superbowl in the 1980's, I think it was,the gamewas in a Northern state and the weather was typical winter weather. I read in Time mag someone had said the game should have been in warm New Orleans. |

they rescheduled for Tue bc 30% of Philly fans live in NJ, which was hit with 22 inches. The NHL game the previous night drew 5000, and half left in the second period bc mass transit was being shut down.
Emergency vehicles were working around the clock, and several would have had to been pulled if the game was played Monday |
