Kyle Williams Gets Twitter's Wrath

Yep...Sleezebag fans...every frikkin one of them.

Teammates give only support, but Twitter lights up with hate against 49er backup punt-returner.

Kyle Williams put his hands on his helmet and dropped his head in disgust. It was the backup punt returner's second big mistake of the day and it came at the worst possible time.

Williams fumbled in overtime to set up Lawrence Tynes' 31-yard field goal, and the 49ers lost the NFC championship game to the New York Giants 20-17 on Sunday.

Williams isn't the first string kick returner. Prior to Sunday, he had returned punts just twice this season. He played Sunday because Ted Ginn Jr., the team's normal punt returner, was hurt. Williams also muffed another punt early in the fourth quarter which set up a go-ahead touchdown for New York.

Williams didn't run from the cameras after the game, facing reporters who crowded around his locker. (Raw video at the top of the page). He said fellow players told him to keep his head up.

"You hate to be the last guy that had the ball, to give it away in that fashion and to lose a game of this magnitude," Williams said. "It is what it is. We're going to move forward as a team. Everyone has come to pat me on the back and the shoulder to say it's not me."

And while there was support for Williams in the locker room, there were people tweeting death threats on his Twitter account.

Sunday night, several hateful messages and veiled threats were posted. Many of them were taken down that specifically talked about wanting him to die.

I contrast ^^^THIS ^^^ with what I perceive as a pretty classy reaction overall, in general, by the Baltimore Ravens and their fans to Cundiff missing that kick ...sure, a couple of homers are calling for his head, but most Ravens fans I've been reading about today are more like, "no man, it's the entire sixty minutes, not just the one missed kick" and they don't seem to be throwing Cundiff under the bus or SENDING DEATH THREATS his way, which is just ridiculous. It just shows you how truly classless the 49ers fans really are. Seems like Ravens fans seem to have a much greater football IQ. It's like these 49er fans are all "roid raging" or something, I don't get it.

So glad the 49ers lost. They thought they were so good, but these threats are ridiculous. I'm sure we all hated the way Gregg Williams's defense played toward the end of that game, but nowhere have I ever seen or heard anyone of us threatening harm on him. Classless fans at thier best.

2012 NFL Playoffs -- San Francisco 49ers' Kyle Williams received death threats - ESPN

I feel sorry for the guy as a football fan.

Just goes to show you who's got the better fans. I don't recall anyone screaming for G.W.'s head or sending death threats to Shanle. Chin up Saints fans! At least we know who the real fans are.

Totally agree with you all. I heard that the other day on NFl Network.
What?
Talk about class there huh, yeah , right.
Very sad. Scary.
Those doing this, which is illegal, a life threat, should be held accountable by the law.

I said before, 49's fans of now are those of Montana-Young-Rice days. These fans now are not the fans during Steve Youngs ' days either.

These are Oakland Raider fans who bandwagon to the 49's along with the new 49's fans.
