I disagree with you on the Nicks deal; I think it will happen very quickly after Drew's deal, and definitely before FA starts. I see Loomis offering just slightly more than Evans got, and then saying if you don't take it, we are tagging you.

They can look at Nicks deal all they want, but there has been absolutely no contact with Nicks. That's what makes it an issue. They can say "Well, we can off him a bit more than Evans," but they really have no figure that they know he is comfortable with. All you know is he wants Evans deal + inflation.
Would I tag Nicks over Colston? Obviously. I even made an article on why.
Here's the thing though. Why tag a player who is saying he is disheartened, who doesn't want to get tagged and risk the distractions that come with a possible hold out? This is why I said as time ticks away, Loomis may consider having to allow Nicks to test the market. The Saints have him wanting to come back, so that's a bonus. A big one. So anything in the ballpark would likely land a deal and make negotiations go quick, sure.
I will stand by it and assume the Saints would rather gamble with tagging Nicks and negotiating with Colston and Nicks during that time than to simply let him walk... But, I do believe that as time ticks it increases the liklihood that we consider other options too. But that's all assuming Brees is done by March 5th also.
