Elway...Hero or unemployed?

The upcoming season just got a lot more interesting. Elway gambling the farm on Peyton being able to return to superstar status will be a big story this season, and it could go either way.

On the one hand, Peyton could come in and instantly add offense to a team that depended heavily on it's defense last year. He could come in and take them further into the playoffs...maybe even a SB. If this happens, Elway is a genius.

IMO, it was a very heavy gamble because of the injury and Peyton's age. If, God forbid, Peyton was to go down early in the season...or even worse, is healthy and can't move the offense any better than Tebow, then people will be calling for Elway's head. The chant "TEBOW" will haunt John.

I have a hunch that Elway's dislike for Tebow goes deeper than just QB mechanics.

As far as people's opinions on QB's...

Eli wasn't a top 100 player in the league, according to some people, before the season started. Now, according to some people, he is 1st ballot HOF.

I really don't know how this whole thing is going to play-out, but I will be watching with great interest to see.

Whether you think you can or think you can't...you're right!

Honestly, I am kind of digging the fact that Peyton wound up in Denver. We will get to see some exciting late games on TV on Sundays, and in the big picture it really doesn't matter too much for the Saints, because he's in the AFC.

I think you have to do it. A HOF QB with a solid defense is a good formula for success. With Tebow, if he goes down, the whole offense has to revert back to a more normal style offense. If Manning is out, another QB can come in and run that system.

I have to admit...

Its hard not to root for Manning. I can't see not rooting for him to win the SB this year in his hometown! If the Saints don't get in... I'll be all in for Payton.
