It's a very good thing we signed Coach Payton last week. Otherwise some of these teams would have been a serious threat to pursue Payton. San Diego has talent, Philly has offensive weapons and the Cardinals have Fitzgerald. And Payton's connection to Chicago and the fact that they have Cutler, Marshall and some other good receivers would have made that job appealing. Thank you Loomis and Benson!

Re: Happy Firing Day , Happy NFL Firing Day!

This is almost 25% of the league's H/C being fired ... where in the hell are you going to find the talent to replace them? I don't see how a coach with runaway disciplinary problems and a team that just plain quit on him this season in Jim Schwarz (Det) and his offensive/defensive coordinators, keep their jobs either. Oh wait, team owners (the Fords) are known to be loyal to a fault.

Lovie Smith was the biggest surprise to me of all. I really thought they'd take into consideration the Cutler/Urlacher injuries when considering the last two seasons lack of playoff success.
