Buffalo Bills pick Syracuse's Doug Marrone as new head coach
Doug Marrone is leaving Syracuse University and will become the new head coach of the Buffalo Bills, NFL Network learned early Sunday morning.
Marrone, 48, spent four seasons at Syracuse and led the Orange to a victory in the Pinstripe Bowl over West Virginia on Dec. 28. His record there was 25-25. Marrone has seven years of NFL coaching experience. He served three seasons as offensive coordinator of the New Orleans Saints, from 2006 to 2008, and coached the New York Jets offensive line for four seasons, starting in 2002. After firing former coach Chan Gailey on Monday, the Bills also interviewed Lovie Smith, Chip Kelly, Ray Horton and Ken Whisenhunt.
