This is where we get into the thing I often talk about with refs....there is a bottom line intangible element in football, where if the refs don't LIKE YOU, you will NOT get the questionable call when you need it.
The 49ers made their living all year on dangerous head-to-head hits, popping defenseless receivers, targeting specific players for injury, coaches' getting in officials' faces , plus there were numerous fights and scuffles throughout that Super Bowl game started mostly by the guys in the red jerseys. You do that often enough, and the refs will eventually reach a point where it's "talk to the hand." If you are a general PITA to the refs, all game long, or all season long, they WILL look the other way if you need a call in that type of clutch situation. Happens many times. |

Jim just oughta' be happy the lights went out & gave him a chance to get back in the game. The Ravens had the momentum & if it wasn't for that, it was gonna' get real ugly for the Niners. Just sayin'.

That roughing the kicker call that allowed Akers a second chance? Total garbage. The defender comes rolling in slowly and Akers just flopped, like a typical kicker. It is what it is. I've never heard a team obsess over one play so much. At least not publicly. |
If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.
