NFL Free Agency: Top Five Dunta Robinson Destinations
While the New York Jets are interested in shopping around Darrelle Revis, the price tag may be too high for most teams. Good thing there is something we call ’Free Agency’, you know, where players either leave the team on their own terms, or get the boot from the franchise itself.
Dunta Robinson, 8 year veteran out of South Carolina was drafted by a brand new franchise the Houston Texans. With his first year for the Houston Texans, Dunta Robinson recorded 87 combined tackles, 3 sacks and career high 6 interceptions. Career high in tackles being 88, which came in his 2nd year in the league, has been pretty healthy in his 8 years. Only missing 13 games in his 8 seasons in the league, Robinson has contributed to both the Texans and the Falcons. Spending a majority of his career in Houston, Robinson left the Texans after 6 years and joined the Atlanta Falcons for the 2010 campaign. In 3 seasons with the Atlanta Falcons before being recently released, Robinson recorded 184 total tackles, 1.5 sacks, 4 interceptions and 24 passes defelcted. He is 30 years old, but is going to be cheaper than trading for a guy like Darrelle Revis (27 years old) and throwing a chunk of your bank account his direction. So looking at secondary options wouldn’t hurt if you are looking to upgrade help on the corners. 1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Last year they allowed almost 4,800 passing yards and 30 touchdowns. They were ranked last in passing defense, so bringing in Dunta Robinson should give them more of a cushion when it comes to holding down the corner spot. He should come at a decent price for them, one of the teams who desperately need help and want help. I think they could be the favorite to sign him. 2. New Orleans Saints - Who Dat? No seriously…Who Dat…Last year the New Orleans Saints defense was HORRIBLE! This defense was terrible all around, a team I didn’t expect to struggle. I thought they would be another play off threat, but they only finished the season at 7-9. With Tampa Bay looking to improve and New Orleans trying to figure out what is going on with what they have, these two teams at #1 and #2 on this list will probably go back and forth with the former Atlanta Falcon until he signs with one of them. 3. New York Giants - Ranked 28th in passing defense, the defending Super Bowl champions for last season, came out more as a dud, than with a bang like they wanted to. With the New York Giants releasing Corey Webster (who was set to pick up $7 million in 2013), bringing in Dunta Robinson to fill in for Webster could be a perfect fit, for the perfect price. They need help in certain places and this position is one of them. New York needs to get things rolling again if they want to get back to Super Bowl form. 4. Detroit Lions - A team where a year ago they were ranked 22nd when it came to pass defense, has plenty of room to improve when it comes to defense. Though they are in search of offensive line and running back help, they could use a boost when it comes down to defensive backs. Their interceptions decreased by 10 compared to the 2011 season where they had 21 for the season. So figuring out what they have left for cap space, if they indeed have enough to throw at Robinson, wouldn’t be that bad of an idea, it could possibly help improve their numbers for next season. 5. Oakland Raiders - Not much of a contender, but they could give Dunta a decent amount of money to convince him to come and help improve their secondary instead of a Super Bowl ready team. They allowed over 3,700 passing yards last season and pretty much have no help when it comes to the secondary. So adding Dunta Robinson should help slim down some of those numbers as long as he has help on the other side to keep things under control. This shouldn’t be their only move, as long as they have enough cap space to shop for other defensive backs. Could be a pay day destination for players if their budget is right. You guys won't want him. He's gonna get burned by Roddy and Julio when we face you next year. Out of all our corners he's the worst tackler, and got burned the most. He was paid way too much, too.

Re: NFL Free Agency: Top Five Dunta Robinson Destinations
He is one of those players I kinda judge not by stats or highlights alone... He's one of those guys, where I can't tell you how many times have I seen him jumping around celebrating and gesturing after a play, that he really had nothing to do with. Say the QB falls down and overthrows the ball, it sails 20 yards over everybody's head, out of bounds -- and Dunta jumps around pointing at everybody, dancing like he's THE MAN and he just single-handedly won the Super Bowl. I don't see him fitting here.
