Has anyone heard?

Not happy about this if its true. Falcons are in the mix regarding Revis trade possibility.

lee909 03-06-2013 09:04 AM

Don't care really
A man that while hugely talented will be a massive disruption in the locker toon with his holdouts and will demand a huge contract.
$18/20ml year or so soon on Ryan contract extension.$12/16ml on Revis future contract leave little cap room.

WillSaints81 03-06-2013 09:09 AM

Re: Has anyone heard?

Maybe, but still Revis gave Brees problems last time we played the jets. He couldnt get a td pass. We were smart to run the ball that game.

What defense is the jets though are they a zone?

Re: Has anyone heard?

With all the dead money they've been left with after the recent cuts and earlier bad decisions by Dimitroff - I would think that they'd want to stay away from big contract players like Revis.

Re: Has anyone heard?

Hope they do it and wreck their cap in the process.

Re: Has anyone heard?

At this point, I think the Jets are trying to get as much trade value as they can for Revis. He is an ELITE cornerback but boy what a diva.

This team is buying a superbowl. They have been doing it since the Gonzo move. They don't care about next year. They think they can win a sb next year and then worry about Ryan.

And there are falcon fans saying on their forums, "Prove it, Ryan, you deserve your contract do what Flacco did." Its sickening.

Re: Has anyone heard?

Revis won't be traded, he's good but he's too much money and too much of a headache.

I hope he goes there. Then we would get to see Brees torch his ass twice a year.

Is Lake Lanier Atlanta? Because I think it was rumors and falcons said they aren't serious. I see this on those ESPN tweets.

Atlanta missed its chance by folding again in the playoffs, especially after barely winning so many games to get the record they did. They won't have the same success this year.
Agree, Revis stays a jet

When aging players like Revis consider a team to win the Big one and get them a ring Atlanta doesn't enter the conversation...

Re: Has anyone heard?

No. Revis wont fit well here. What we need is a couple of linebackers.

Re: Has anyone heard?

Well atlanta lacks one thing.......EMOTION. Look at the recent sb winners, all are emotional teams. If you look at the AFC if you are not an emotionally invested team you have no shot to win in the playoffs. The saints, giants, bears, and 49ers(and I would even say cardinals if their o gets fixed) are the clear driven teams in the NFC and they are not always lucky to get in due to a more competitive NFC and division games heated from head to toe. Falcons blame coaching for their chokes but not for the right reasons.

Saints are more emotionally invested in wiping away their controverse and getting another ring than Atlanta is in getting Tony a ring. Because there are less emotional teams in the NFC playoffs Atlanta sadly has a shot. I said it is between us or them for NFC next year but there's a difference between us and them when it comes to who can beat Manning, Brady, or Big Ben(its gonna be one of them).

Chris Hope: Atlanta Falcons nearly 'a Super Bowl team' - NFL.com

For example, Chris Hope signed with us last year and said so. He's done it before, so he knows what it takes to get there. Tony G has also said that he wanted to go to the Falcons because he felt that we were going to get there someday in a televised interview with ESPN.

Most of us Falcon fans really feel like were just about there. February was the first time I've ever watched the Super Bowl and felt like we were better than both of the teams playing in it.

No one was going to beat the ravens. Flacco is more mentally tough qb. He may not put up the stats Ryan does but he also plays on a team that requires teams to hit back. Its a mentality thing. You can't just throw long passes to your big weapons and expect the corners to be torched every time. Ryan doesnt take near as many hits as Flacco has. Flacco doesnt have any big weapons he started spreading the ball around like the best qbs do. And next year the falcons are not getting a ring in a blizzard bowl against Manning or Brady and it will be even worse if its the steelers because the sb in NJ highly favors them more than anyone due to their defense. But after this year teams know to run the ball and throw to their tightends when playing the falcons.

WillSaints81 03-07-2013 11:13 PM

Re: Has anyone heard?

You don't lose games like that at your redzone knowing all you needed was to run the ball or get a fg and you let the 49ers get a turnover and you had another chance after that. The saints wouldnt lose in that situation. In fact that drive was nothing compared to the overtime drive where Brees had to get his team in fg range against a tough vikings defense. When falcons face that let me know because I don't believe Ryan will succeed.

2 players does not constitute "a lot" when you're dealing with a 53-man roster, just sayin' ... and 'nearly' only counts in horseshoes & hand grenades, eh?

We couldn't take a field goal... and don't you remember the Seattle game?? We drove ball down the field and got a game-winning field goal in less than 30 seconds.

San Fran... yeah I'll say Atlanta was better but you guys did a horrible job and holding on to a 20 point lead...
Baltimore... NO way This was the Ravens year
Ray Ray could have ran on the field and shanked someone and the announcers would have just said
" Give it up for Ray Lewis everyone " ** applause**

Are you kidding me?!

Boldin was catching everything being thrown his way in the playoffs - he should've been the MVP.

So absolutely noone steps up to the plate to you? I think it's outrageous to say that any NFL team doesn't have any leaders. How about Roddy White? Asante Samuel? Sean Weatherspoon? Matt Ryan? McClure? Tony G? You have to have leaders to get the NFCG. Can you give me multiple examples of this?

Re: Has anyone heard?

Well maybe so. But if thats the case, he snuck up on people. I do not believe Flacco is going to live up to his contract.

Atl you're on our board we're not giving the falcons credit for anything. the leadership needs to come from Ryan or your defense. But if the latter, they have to start playing like a scary defense. You just got rid of a player who was one of the biggest problems for Brees on your team and now it will take a season or so before you will maintain that pass rush presence. Without Lewis Flacco would not have gotten to the sb it would have been Manning. Ryan doesnt have a Ray Lewis on his team who is the biggest defensive leader in the league. But its not only that the falcons are gonna have to go through us. Its easy to disect a dcoord for a circus act team and puppet head coach but how about look at his work more closely and see how the games were won and loss. Go look at the browns' stats defensively in 2010. Rob Ryan is gonna be a good hire of our at least for a season or so before its figured out and its going to make our team as good or better than 2011. And Atlanta better have what it takes to beat NE or go win in Lambeau because that is going to decide the NFC South winner. And they need to worry about the likes of Carolina and Tampa Bay who have played Atlanta tough in recent years. Cam has been trying to beat the falcons and three of four games he's outplayed Ryan. We are not afraid of a runningback who will have his carries reduced in Atlanta therefore making him rusty throughout the game. He was good in St.Louis because he was the offense. Just look at what happened to Ricky and Ronnie in Miami or Dwill in Carolina when their carries were reduced. The careers of the former are over and Carolina fans have figured out that there is nothing wrong with Dwill but that he is being rusted. Good luck with Stephen Jackson who has had some flaws in recent years and even older than Ronnie Brown and Dwill.

The falcons think the saints are that beatable. Personally I believe the saints biggest achilles heels are west coast road games, cold weather games against top notch defenses. If Dallas, Seattle, Detroit win their divisions then Dallas would have had to beat us in the sd, giving us an advantage in a rematch, Seattle we already would have gotten a test in reg season(like giants in their sb run), and lions are not that good enough to beat a team like us even in another dome which we do not struggle in. However falcons are vulnerable playing against two of those teams. They do not go to Seattle in the reg season they have them at home. Also, if Atlanta were to win division and beat Seattle in reg season Seattle very well could win their division and it would come back to haunt them. There is no good defense for a team who is too prepared. And a team at that who was good enough to win on the road against Washington and almost Atlanta with no game knowledge, imagine what they will do with game knowledge. As a saints fan I probably would want us to lose to Seattle if we can afford to just to use what we know against them in the playoffs. So in essence it doesnt look good for Atlanta next year knowing if they were to win the division they would have to play Seattle again very likely in the playoffs.

But we'll see, the saints offense is just that much more explosive I can't see us going down to Atlanta two years in a row when their passing game is predictable.

Outrageous? ... do you take great umbrage at my remarks as well?. Multipe examples? Pull up a list of SuperBowl Champion rosters and do a comparison on their coaching staffs/rosters to Atl's and see if you can spot the leadership characteristics & traits that set those teams apart from Atl, what made them winners and Atl not. It'd be a good exercise for you. It takes more than snappy catch-phrases, smart-ass remarks & youtube videos to be a leader.

One playoff win in 5yrs for a team with so much alleged talent, what more proof do you need? When the going gets tough, the Falcons fold like chairs, what else could it be on such a 'talented' squad?

Ever hear the expression, "An army of sheep led by a lion, is far more dangerous then an army of lions led by a sheep"? Well, that's what you got going on in Atlanta, an army of alleged lions being led by sheep.

It's why you guys are 'regular season champs',.

Dumb mistakes? Like the fumble. You don't ever look at the safetys before you know the ball is in your hands. Missed responsibilities? Stephen Nicholas had to cover those tight ends that were running free. Busted coverage? Stephen Nicholas again. Terrible tackling? Lack of pass rush?
