NFL Free Agency 2013: Nnamdi Asomugha Saints Visit Nothing Serious? - Canal Street Chronicles

I'm thinking 'WTF'? What is going on here? Asomugha is one of the most sought-after and high-profile free agents and he doesn't even meet with Sean Payton? Or Mickey Loomis?

Thoughts?
Consider the source... dubious at best. Please don't post the trash from there in the future.

I can understand you are just anxious and wanting some action to "POP OFF"

*Calm down, Day-Day* in my best Ice cube voice.... Asomugha is making his decision, much like Jake Long did. Even if Asomugha chooses San Fran its not the end of the world. We now know the type of corner Rob, and the Saints envision for this D, because of the people they have targeted thus far. 6-0ft or better, not afraid to come in and support the run and excels in man to man situations.

David Amerson from NC State would be a nice pick at 6-1 and 205 with a 4.44 40 time, but unfortunately the Saints would need a 2nd rounder to get him.

STRENGTHS: Amerson has rare height and length for the position and actually played primarily at safety in high school. He has the size and ballskills for the next level, but scouts are also impressed with his competitive drive to get better, showing vast improvement between his freshman and sophomore seasons. And the coaching staff says there is no problem keeping Amerson hungry, as he is one of the top practice players each week. Could prove a fit in a press-based scheme. Highly aggressive defender who intercepted many of his passes reading the eyes of quarterbacks and jumping short routes.

WEAKNESSES: Concerns about his fluidity and straight-line speed. Typically lined up in off-man and zone coverage in college, but his lack of elite speed would make that a difficult fit in the NFL. Aggression makes him vulnerable to double-moves. Amerson was beaten soundly in several-highly anticipated matchups in 2012, which contributed to losses to Tennessee and Clemson.

Read before you blurt....

"Loomis also said he and Coach Sean Payton met with Asomugha in New Orleans before the pair headed to the league owners meetings at the Arizona Biltmore Hotel, which officially began Monday morning."

Larry holder also says that the meeting went well and we are essentially waiting for Asomugha to decide where he wants to go

re: Nnamdi Asomugha (All in one)

Sign Nnamdi, put together a trade in order to get Saffold from the Rams (im thinking something that may be involving Ivory) and either go with best defensive player available in the draft or trade the 15th pick down in order to gain more picks for depth

Asomuhga IMHO would be a good get. I could see trading a CB after we see if Nnamdi still has it.
