New Tony Romo Contract Includes $55 Million Worth Of Guaranteed Failure

QB Tony Romo signed a new $108 million contract with the Dallas Cowboys earlier today that includes $55 million worth of guaranteed failure spread out over six seasons, sources close to the team have confirmed.

“(Romo’s) deal contains the highest dollar-to-disappointment ratio in league history,” said NFL.com analyst Bucky Brooks. “This signing will deliver an unprecedented amount of guaranteed failure to the Cowboys, paid in regular weekly installments of fumbles, interceptions, clock mismanagement, and late game meltdowns over the course of the next several years.”

The contract more than doubles the $20 million in guaranteed failure included in the 2009 contract between Jay Cutler and the Chicago Bears, and sets a precedent for the looming negotiation between the Falcons and Matt Ryan, who will likely demand a new deal worth upwards of $120 million to avoid taking his guaranteed under achievement to the open market in 2014.

WOW. I think Romo is better than Flacco, but still doesn't deserve all of that money. He's been single-handedly throwing away games for YEARS.
