Thirty-five days after signing Anthony Hargrove, the Dallas Cowboys are cutting the defensive lineman and formerly accused member of the New Orleans Saints' alleged bounty scandal.

The Cowboys announced through their website Thursday that Hargrove will be released. The team did not specify a reason for cutting him.

Hargrove hasn't appeared in a regular-season game since he suited up for the Seattle Seahawks in Week 17 of the 2011 season. Last summer, he was cut by the Green Bay Packers during training camp. At the time, Hargrove was facing an eight-game suspension levied by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell for what the league claimed was Hargrove's attempt to conceal the bounty system by lying to investigators. He has denied he lied and that he participated in any bounty system.

Hargrove had hoped his signing with the Cowboys after missing all of last season would be a new beginning for him.

"You've seen my life. There's no such thing as hopelessness," he told reporters in Dallas. "Hopefully what's happening with me now is testimony to anybody that feels that way. Hopefully they understand (what's) been taken away because there is no hopelessness. If you want something bad enough, you've just got to persevere and fight for it. And in the end, it usually works out for you."

Not this time. Not in Dallas, anyway.
