Re: NFL considers banning academically ineligible players from Scouting Combine

![]() The NCAA is a publicly/privately funded minor-league for the NFL. Under the guise of providing an education, they recruit and develop players for the NFL. If you start focusing too much on academics more than athleticism, you wouldn't be able to field teams & the NFL owners would have the expense & headache of developing a minor-league system. So it will never change. Back in the day, before expansion (in all sports), positions on a team were less available, more coveted and owners/coaches placed a higher premium on a player's character. More teams means more players & you're eventually going to cut some corners in order to fill rosters. Should they ban academically ineligible players from the Scouting Combine? Morally, "yes". Is it feasible? "No". Whaddya' gonna' do? |
