Anonymous Atlanta Falcons player says “our (offensive) linemen are punks”
The Atlanta Falcons offensive line hasn’t exactly done a great job of protecting their franchise quarterback through the first two games. After the season-opening loss to the New Orleans Saints, Falcons Head coach Mike Smith called out his o-line for failing to come to the aid of Matt Ryan when he was the victim of a late hit by Saints rookie safety Kenny Vaccaro.
Now, there’s reports of an anonymous Falcons player calling out the o-line: Atlanta’s linemen offered no such call to arms, leaving Smith to ask where the Staley moment was from his cast of blockers. “Our linemen are punks,” one frustrated Falcons player told NFL Media columnist Michael Silver this week. The Staley moment is in reference to a moment during the Week 1 contest between the Green bay Packers and the San Francisco 49ers, in which offensive tackle Joe Staley came to the aid of Colin Kaepernick when he was hit late on a ply by Packers linebacker Clay Matthews. Staley almost got into a fist-fight and ejected, just to show how much he was willing to do to defend his QB. Apparently, the Falcons o-line isn’t showing that kind of “fight” in them, and it’s causing some dissension. Anonymous and unnamed source are the two people I know that have balls of steel I tell ya. If the guy making the comments had any guts, he'd put his name to it, own it and even tell the reporter you better get my name right when you quote me

There were more than just those 5 offensive lineman on the field when that happened. Anonymous Falcons player is not only frustrated, but stupid and gutless at the same time.

Re: Anonymous Atlanta Falcons player says “our (offensive) linemen are punks”
I know it's just one odd word, "punks," but which Falcon we know runs his mouth and uses a lot of weird words when he talks trash? Like "peasant" for instance...or "big boy"....which Falcon offensive player regularly goes on tirades about the people of a city, or runs his mouth about rival division teams, coaches, or people he doesn't like? Which Falcon above all others, loves a microphone and likes to run his mouth to reporters in the media, historically in the past? Which Falcon is a star and a veteran long enough, to actually know how to reach a reporter, privately, off the record, if he wanted to? Which Falcon is "frustrated" right now, perhaps by an injury, Hmmmm???? Which one used to use Twitter a lot until he recently got a big backlash for something he said there, that had his name attached to it, so now he doesn't say stuff on Twitter anymore? Does that mean he suddenly stopped thinking the stuff too? That kind of mouth, could he even shut up if he wanted to, or would the temptation to say something be too great?
"Anonymous" and "Un named source" are not on the roster, but I got a pretty good theory on WHO this player might be, and what name might be on the back of his jersey. Who has a mouth like that. |

The Vaccaro hit on Ryan wasn't a blatantly malicious hit; Matthews went for the flying guillotine choke with the body slam 10 yards out of bounds. There is a difference.
Brings back memories of one Kyle Turley, and how many people ragged on Turley, even Jim "I stumped on Jim Kelly's head way after the whistle" Haslett for "making us lose that game"... |
