Re: Three-week preseason, 14-team playoffs could be coming
The problem is with these rule changes, it to no surprise pops up after a large marketable team or player is shafted by the rule.

Re: Three-week preseason, 14-team playoffs could be coming
There's 30 teams in basketball. They send 8 from Eastern Conference, and 8 from the Western Conference to the playoffs. 16 of the 30 teams make the playoffs. More then half. It's stupid. There are usually 2 to 4 teams with a legitimate shot at winning a championship each year. No parity. I love basketball, but they need to fix that ****. That's why football is, and always has been my favorite sport. But with them fining Goldson AGAIN for that hit this week.....we're in for some unwanted changes.

The NHL ... 16 of 30 teams (53%) go to the postseason ... it used to be worse, back in the day only a select few teams didn't qualify for the playoffs ... but I get your point, I don't want to see more teams getting in to the NFL postseason.

Re: Three-week preseason, 14-team playoffs could be coming
Well (1) the ticket prices are higher for NFL playoff tickets (even for season ticket holders) and (2) the ad revenue on TV is gigantically higher for the league so unfortunately, if it has made it this far to the "trial balloon" being run up the flagpole to see who salutes it, then I am inclined to assume that this is pretty much a done deal. I won't shed a tear over losing the preseason game though. When I first got my own tickets I was kinda naive like, "yeah preseason are not the greatest but they are okay, it's kinda fun to take in the vibe of the stadium and the players, walk around and see the sight, but not really care about the outcome" but after a couple years of that, I got over it pretty d--- quick. But it's basically going to be a money grab, forcing ALL the season ticket holders to spend more.

You have to think about the health of the players. In the long run. As you would need two bye weeks. To pull off a 18-game season.
