Tony Dorsett Diagnosed With "CTE"
Guys this really breaks my heart. I don't hate the Cowboys like many of you do - not that there's anything wrong with that. If my Dad had been around (parents divorced) no doubt I would have been a KC Chiefs fan.
Growing up and finding football on my own, in the 70's I loved my home-state team, the Saints, and the team I saw on TV all the time (and one with a chance to win from time to time), and that was Dallas. In my own defense, when Jones bought the team and fired Landry the way he did my feelings for the Cowboys organization went away overnight. Anyway, as a kid I loved Tony Dorsett. When I had my fantasies of playing football I emulated him as best I could. For the brief time I played I was a half back. Really sad for him and his family. http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/dal...gns-of-cte.ece |

Re: Tony Dorsett Diagnosed With "CTE"
This was encouraging, “It’s enlightening to know what I have, what I’m dealing with,” Dorsett said. “Now it’s time to find out, how can we can come back from it? I actually was told [by researchers] that it can be reversed. I was like, ‘What?’ They said, ‘Yeah, it can be reversed, slowed down, stopped.’ I’m like, ‘Oh, OK, so we need to get on out of here and get on that program immediately.”

Re: Tony Dorsett Diagnosed With "CTE"
I'm with you saintfan. I used to like Dallas (not as much as the Saints). But when Jerry Jones took over, fired Landry and started hiring all of the thugs, I haven't looked back.
Tony Dorsett was fun to watch play football. This is just a damn shame what's happening to him. I wish him the best with his treatments and pray that something can be found to at least stop the progression of this disease. |

Re: Tony Dorsett Diagnosed With "CTE"
Climbing on a soap box.
Breast Cancer Sucks. Pink is a great color. Steve Gleason, a medical research outsider, a degenerative neuro-insider. Advocating the need to consider research from different perspectives. Tony, just another "headcase" (no disrespect intended) with f'd up conditions in those damn neurons I thoroughly believe Steve's work to make a difference will MAKE that difference. He has already made a difference in my life and my quest to bring AWARENESS to Multiple Sclerosis by opening the story with ALS. I am going to expand my visibility with a Gleason Saint Jersey. I know who Steve is and I want others in Wisconsin to know...because I'll be asked who is Gleason? And then the conversation starts..... My point. Let's spend a MONTH on neurodegenerative disorders. Mr. Benson, lead the way and start the movement. Tony Dorsett's announcement or life sentence just makes me angry. Pink is over. It's time! Today, I can step on that soap box. Tomorrow, I may need a cane. Next month, I could forget what I came here to say. |
Snap, placement, kick by Hartley, and it is — AND IT'S GOOD!
IT'S GOOD! IT'S GUH-HUH-HOOD! Ha ha ha! Pigs have flown! Hell has frozen over! The Saints are on their way to the Super Bowl! |

Re: Tony Dorsett Diagnosed With "CTE"
Good thing about Tony is it is early diagnosis, so maybe better treatment with better long term outcomes.
The other 13 or so guys definitively diagnosed with this so far were more advanced stages and therefore treatment was not a great option. Good luck to him. |
