Martez Wilson Lands in Dallas

It was just a short while ago that Martez Wilson was ready to crank it up, and be a huge force in the Saints defensive scheme under Rob Ryan.

Wilson opened as the team’s starting strong-side outside linebacker in training camp, with expectations that he could be the next Anthony Spencer. However, Wilson struggled with an elbow injury, and was fairly absent on the stat sheet for the Saints. However, the 3rd Round (#72 Overall) 2011 Draft Pick from Illinois was released on October 22nd.

After the Raiders claimed him off of Waivers the next day, he would only see action in three games, but produce nothing on the stat sheet. So, Wilson was waived on November 19th.

Wilson found a home with the Dallas Cowboys today, signing a two-year contract after a Tuesday workout. Wilson will reportedly play defensive end for the Cowboys, and is immediately on the active roster.

For Wilson, it’s been a downward struggle, as Saints fans were really shocked to see him go in the first place. He was a fan favorite, and one of those players we were all just waiting for to explode. Sadly, his time was cut short, and it never happened.

Arguably, this may be Wilson’s last opportunity, so we only hope the best for him.

Great Athlete! But he can't find out what to do with his skills, even the magic of Rob Ryan could help him. Best of luck Wilson.
