Re: Eagles release Pro Bowl WR DeSean Jackson after six seasons
Not at the extent of the LA versions, but I still have strong ties to it to this day. Close family members that I hang with daily. Friends I grew up. People I've met who just so happened to also be a part of it. Gang banging isn't AS bad as it is in Cali down here. But it can be depending on the people. I never went ahead and got jumped in or blessed in, but I've been heavily affiliated for over a decade. I mean, what color do I have on in my default. lol

Re: Eagles release Pro Bowl WR DeSean Jackson after six seasons
He was released because of quite a few things:
1. Every year he wants more money, Chip Kelly doesn't feel like dealing with that drama. 2. He is at the very least, immature. Part of a gang or not, throwing signs on National TV, social media is hardly indicative of maturity or professionalism. 3. "He isnt a bad guy", "hes never been arrested", etc... yada yada... You haven't been bad until you are, you haven't been arrested until you are, you do not murder someone until you do... Fine. Aaron Hernandez set the tone for future gang bangers that refuse to sever their ties or at least keep them on the DL while in the league. Its a huge liability, and I am not aware or any corporation that would hire and pay someone $10m that is known to have ties with gangs and continues to publicly advertise that. It is one thing to be associated with corruption or criminal activity, its another thing when you are associated with people that kill and smile about it afterwards. Too much of a risk. The Eagles released him to get ahead of all the BS. Rez.. Here is the difference. I would hire you knowing you have a history and some ties. If your avatar was a picture of you throwing signs and you were posting pictures celebrating the prison release of one one of your friends while he is still wearing his prison t-shirt... Sorry bro, I wouldn't touch you with a 10 foot pole... Not for $10m. To much of a risk. I might hire you to drive trucks, but if you hung out with people that were known transporters of drugs and illegal weapons I would even hire you to do that. More because of who I hung around then what I was doing. The only thing that saved me was the fact the teachers recognized my grades were all A's, and were more lenient. We moved, and I finished my grade schooling career at a place were it was 90% white, and I never had any trouble at any point in time. And I'm not saying that to make it a racial thing, but only to make my point. That taught me how to deal with EVERYONE. Because everybody is different. I could blend. The white kids couldn't really understand how I talked. I learned to change that up around them. I didn't flash the gang banging ties around them or at the school because I knew it would only hold me back. Same goes for my music. I don't often reference the Blood ties because it only brings drama. So I agree with you in that aspect. It was dumb for Desean to throw up the C's (I'm throwing up in my mouth...ugh) in a game. But I think it was a heat of the moment, knee jerk reaction. Anybody who came up around that kind of goes back to that as a crutch when in a confrontation. Like a dog showing it's teeth if you will. Not to mention gangs have become more of a glorified part of Hip Hop, and EVERYBODY thinks they're in them now. It's a little deeper then what's seen on the surface. I think he's a Crip (throws up again), just not an active, banging Crip. And I don't think he ever put in work or anything like. Which is robbery, murder, or drug dealing for the set. Some people are just kind of honorary. |

The math is dim+immature+emotionally driven = Accident looking for a place to happen. Or Maybe nothing at all It's a $10m gamble... Since you brought up "honorary member"... WTF? A fake thug? That life is what people turn to when they can't survive any other way. That's like me putting on dirty clothes with holes and hanging out in a soup kitchen... Or socialites buying Harley's, fake gang vests, and bandanas pretending to be bikers .... I don't understand some people. Anyway.... You didn't use the word soldier and I appreciate that. |

I learned that quick. But I don't want to focus on verbiage. I agree with you about him. He's me first. He's immature. I wouldn't put 10 million up for him as a GM. 6 or 7 though? I'll take my chances. He's proven us otherwise so far. I really feel like the gang **** is a cop out. He didn't just suddenly become a Crip in his 20's. That doesn't happen. That never will happen. No real gang member would allow that to happen. |

Re: Eagles release Pro Bowl WR DeSean Jackson after six seasons
It was the only word I could think of. We call it being "blessed in". But I agree with you. A lot of these dudes were raised by stuff like Scarface and Godfather as well as the local pimps and dealers. When you broke, you glorify the people who aren't. And I think most boys want to be the macho, bad ass, vigilante type guy if they could be. Idk man. Just giving y'all a different point of view. Discussion is healthy they say.
