Falcons offer Bush two years, $4.5 million
The offer sheet that restricted free-agent safety Rafael Bush signed with the Atlanta Falcons is worth $4.5 million over two years, a league source told The Advocate. The source also said Bush is hoping the New Orleans Saints won’t match the deal because Atlanta is offering a chance at a starting job.

Should we match it?

Doesn't matter if we should match, if he wants to start then that ain't going to happen here, 4.5M is too much for a 3rd safety in our defense

Re: Falcons offer Bush two years, $4.5 million
Isn't any decent safety going to cost around $2M a year anyway? Why not retain a young guy that has shown promise instead of replacing him with a veteran that will likely cost about the same?

You can most certainly count on at least one more safety (probably a veteran) being added to this group. Why not Bush? Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk |

I don't really care about what he said. He'll play ball for whoever signs him. As for the money, I don't think any other reliable backup will cost much less. Maybe we bring Jim Leonhard back for cheap. It just seems to me that during what everyone is calling a "super bowl or bust" season you'd want a better backup plan at safety than a CFL project and some UDFA to be picked up at a later date.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Champ Bailey playing some safety.

I have not seen any Superbowl or Bust, comments.
Champ wanted to play S in Denver they wouldn't move him. |

Champ said he "would" play safety. "Would", in my mind, is much different than "want".... Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk |

If your going to play literal with "would" or "want", then "bust" has no place in this season, for the most part its a youth movement. I also find a huge flaw in the theory that with out Drew Brees our defense becomes worse, our running game gets worse, Sean Payton becomes a bad coach, Graham gets worse, our receivers stop catching... The group that found Drew Brees and brought him to New Orleans will find his successor and we will be equally as successful. |

As much as I love Drew and hope he plays forever, to deny that a physical decline is likely at his age and older is wishful thinking at best, and to imply that our HOF caliber QB is not a key cog in our run at another super bowl or that those type of players are dime-a-dozen and easily replaced is a bit delusional. There is no implication that Drew is an easily replaceable commodity. Would you say Drew is an elite QB? Jimmy Graham is an elite TE? Having 2 elite players on the same side of the ball at the same time doesn't just happen to every team or many. It isn't luck, it's Sean Payton. Drew Brees wasn't elite at San Diego. Sean Payton adjusts our game plan according to rising and falling players and there is no doomsday clock on his success. We won a SN without Graham and Drew retiring isn't going to make us an 8-8 team. |
