Last season, 11 receivers gained more yards than Jones and White put together.

36 receivers scored more touchdowns than the glass duo.

Last season the falcons went 4-12 and came in last in the division.

It is like year in and year out someone over there is just a running their mouth without having stepped on the field. That team has more championships, hall of famers, and greatness if you are just willing to listen to them tell you.

Didn't Crappy Ice say they were putting a 40 burger on us last year in the Superdome? I mean my God I have heard of athletes talking, but these guys always talk about what they're going to do, what they're going to be, but it never happens....?

a) it's been a while, and
b) the one that says 'catch the ball and follow the wedge' ? ATL can have every ST play we have. We desperately need to revamp anyway

CR was awesome returner and even better gunner, but that was 2-3 years ago. Can't possibly imagine any value at this point

Their fans are the same. It's great to be behind your team and be super proud of them win, lose or draw. But those people take it to a whole new level.

In all honesty, the Falcons have a pretty good receiving duo... too bad that doesn't mean ****. Every team, no matter how bad they are... has a set of players that are probably top tier for their position(maybe their are some exceptions). If it doesn't equate to wins then who gives a flying ****.

But for years I have never seen that team make anything without Tony Gonzalez. Without him, things look dark.

This proclamation from Jones got me looking at the numbers and it turns out, they're not even the best receiving duo in the South.

These are the numbers since Julio came into the league.

Graham & Colston
Rec 508, Targets 777, Yards 6747, TDs 59, Catch% 65.4, Yards/catch 13.3, Yards/tar 8.7, TDs/tar 7.6%

Julio and The Mouth
Rec 429, Targets 708, Yards 6095, TDs 38, Catch% 60.6% Yards/catch 14.2, Yards/tar 8.6, TDs/tag 5.4%

Julio and the idiot have a higher yards/catch. (Julio is a monster deep) Colston and Graham are better at everything else.

Without looking I would say you have a totally different scenario. I don't think they realize how much they are going to miss him.

That's interesting. The combination of Julio and Gonzalez had one more catch and 5 more touchdowns than Julio and The Clown on 64 fewer attempts. Their yards per catch dropped significantly from the JJ/RW combo but that's probably to be expected when you consider their Whites and Gonzo's roles in the offense. Gonzalez had much better hands than White. And played as the safety net. He was often used as the dump option and the guy they went to on 3rd and short.


Graham & Colston

Gonzo had great hands so they had the higher catch percentage but all the other stats lean toward Graham/Colston.

(The stats are real, everything else is just my opinion)

Yes, thanks Utah. Thought it would be a bigger difference. But you are right about Gonzo being the safety net. They don't have that now and when Tony was mauled by the defense and they were allowed to get away with it there was a big difference in the offense. The team may realize how much he's going to be missed but the fans are in for a rude awakening i'm afraid.

I compared White to Colston a few weeks ago on a falcons forum. Colston does everything better than Roddy e.g... catch percentage, yards/completion, yards/attempt, YAC, third down percentage, touchdown percentage...everything.

So I suspected that even though Julio is a beast, he wouldn't be able to cover all of Roddy's shortcomings.

I know Saints fans hate Roddy White but in his prime he was a stud. He probably shouldn't even have been out there last year but he played most of the season on a bum leg. I think Cooks will put up numbers equal to Julio Jones. We have never seen Brees play with a WR like this. I predict the best statistical offense in Saints history. Yea we could probably win some games conservatively like Nick Saban, but Payton and Brees never take their foot off the gas.

I agree with you somewhat. I've heard other Falcons fans saying that Matt Ryan would be BETTER without Tony G, and that's ridiculous, but it's also ridiculous to say that the Falcons offense will spiral into nothing without him.

All of our receiving core suffer on individual stats because Drew throws the ball around to a wide range of receivers

Thats one reason our offense is right up there every year
