Jenkins suggesting changes to Eagles' defense

this is a discussion within the NFL Community Forum; When Jenkins suggests change, Eagles' coaches listen | Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia Bad angles, over commiting leading to big plays, and lunging at players with his head down instead of tackiling correctly. Maybe they should be giving him suggestions....

The Malcolm Jenkins think tank has never been on particularly deep.

Re: Jenkins suggesting changes to Eagles' defense

You know, I always hoped/wanted/expected Jenkins to be a stud. Heck, I actually have two of his jerseys (I know, stupid). But he showed moments of absolute brilliance in his less than stellar career here.

We always talk about systems, and how people fit, or don't fit into certain systems. Most here would agree that Brees has become a future HOF'er under the leadership of Payton, & that perhaps wouldn't have been the case in San Diego (or Miami).

So, I wonder, did Jenkins just struggle in our system? He had three different Defensive coordinators in his time here. Who knows, maybe he'll absolutely kill it in Philly. I really do wish him the best, and hope he reaches his potential. Just hope not when he plays us!

Re: Jenkins suggesting changes to Eagles' defense

Jenkins balled out of control at the nickle corner position. Playing safety is a TOTALLY different animal and at times he simply struggled for us... bad angles, missed tackles, didn't play well in space, etc. Maybe its just me but I preferred him at cornerback. Who knows, maybe he excels in a new scheme.

Malcolm is highly respected by his peers. I wish him well in Philly.

I think I remember the reason for why he was converted was that the staff thought he was too slow to make it as a CB in the NFL.

I expect the Eagles defense to be even worse then.

Too slow and very stiff hips.

Re: Jenkins suggesting changes to Eagles' defense

Jenkins does not have the ideal cornerback body but I really do believe he could've been a decent outside guy. He was always pretty solid when you put him in man-to-man coverage and he could get physical with receivers at the line. Not too different from the way Vaccaro plays when he gets down on the line.

I'm not too disappointed to see him go, I just think the Saints could've made much better use of him than they did.

Re: Jenkins suggesting changes to Eagles' defense

I've heard several times that Jenkins is very intelligent. If that's the case then it's not too much of a stretch to think he could make good suggestions to the Eagles from his experiences with the Saints.
