Rex Ryan to Atl
A few radio stations are reporting that Ryan is in town and that a deal is imminent
Report: Don?t be shocked if Rex Ryan named Falcons coach - Atlanta Business Chronicle |
Re: Rex Ryan to Atl
Not sure how I feel about this.
On the one hand, after some early success, the Jets fell hard under his watch. On the other hand, Rob Ryan has never beaten his brother. That trend would need to stop ASAFP. |
Re: Rex Ryan to Atl
For their defense it's a good move. Their offense will suffer.
|
Re: Rex Ryan to Atl
More of a reason to get our a$$ together with that O line
|
Re: Rex Ryan to Atl
I don't see how this is an upgrade for them. He essentially IS Mike Smith, just louder and more brash. Defensive-minded coach who can't quite handle head coaching duties. Kind of a lateral move for them.
|
Re: Rex Ryan to Atl
They're total idiots!
|
Re: Rex Ryan to Atl
Its a good move for them
They were a boring team with no personality, no reason to get excited about. Now they have some personality and will get a lot more attention. Maybe a few more prime time games and more press attention, which will attract some free agents. On the field they may not be a whole lot better, but I do think its an upgrade over Mike Smith. |
Re: Rex Ryan to Atl
They will not get primetime games unless they start getting above .500. NBC does not give SNF games to teams 2 games below .500 unless it is the giants, cowboys.

Re: Rex Ryan to Atl
I think we need to fire RR. It has to happen now.
|
Re: Rex Ryan to Atl
Well, we needed a worthy successor to Mike Smith. Rex may just work out!
|
Re: Rex Ryan to Atl
He'll get 'em to 8-8. :)
|
Re: Rex Ryan to Atl
so... we haven't fired our Ryan yet...wonder if one twin would hire the other, and wonder if he would accept
|
Re: Rex Ryan to Atl
and he's gone from Atlanta........no deal.

Re: Rex Ryan to Atl
They're bringing him in for a second interview.
Also, they interviewed Marrone. Now does that tell you atlanta's basing their hires on us? |

Re: Rex Ryan to Atl
We'll see what happens but i wonder if Rex is playing mind games with Atlanta. Would he really coach against his brother?
|
Re: Rex Ryan to Atl
A five hour interview with a second one scheduled? Plus they interviewed him 5 years ago?
What exactly do they want to find out- the body of work pretty much speaks for itself |

I hope this is true,

Re: Rex Ryan to Atl
If Rex gets the job
Any chance Rob gets fired if the saints start 2015 0-1 against Atlanta? |

Re: Rex Ryan to Atl
Rex was my thought the day he was fired in NY.
I don't get the optimism here. Rex is head & shoulders above Mike Smith. Hate to say it but the NFC South has 4 really good head coaches now. |
Re: Rex Ryan to Atl
Rex hasn't been hired yet.^

I am looking at the records, and as HCs, the Clowns had a better record under Smith than the Jets had under Ryan. Mike Smith - 7 seasons - 5 winning seasons - 66-46 record - 4 playoff appearances Rex Ryan - 6 seasons - 2 winning seasons - 46-50 record - 2 playoff appearances Rex Ryan inherited a team with a winning record that had very good defensive players and a very good o-line, from Mangini's tenure. Mike Smith inherited the post-Vick, post-Petrino Clowns. Where do you see the better coaching? |
Re: Rex Ryan to Atl
He was the one who could have gotten rid of the OC a long time ago and lets him stick around. Whats funny is the OC is still there. Are we supposed to believe Geno was that bad that with a simple playbook he couldn't force the ball to Decker or hand it off like a rock to CJ1K. Not only that they did not even utilize CJ1k, the guy could catch screens well and they let Ivory have most of that. He constantly dials plays for Kerley and Cunningham scrub players over Decker, Harvin, and CJ1K. No offense is that bad if they just simply have the basic playcalling. Ryan Fitzpatrick showed it can happen.
But of course Rex will get handed a better offense and not even have to worry about ever needing to address that. That's what I hate about things though. |
Re: Rex Ryan to Atl
Rex is taking the Bills job so it's a dead issue.
