Falcons release Steven Jackson

The man who currently sits at 16 on the all-time rushing list will have to continue his climb through the record book with a new team.

The Falcons have announced that running back Steven Jackson has been released.

Isn't there some bad ju-ju associated with SJ that despite all his 1000+ yd seasons he's never played on a team that finished better than .500? Remember when the Failclown fans were on here giddy as little schoolgirls when they got him? Yeah, those were fun times,.

While I don't really like those teams that wouldn't bug me nearly as much as him playing for the Falcons.

I usually say that the only players I can respect on the Falcons are the guys on their rookie contracts. They didn't choose to go there themselves....

Well, hopefully he'll do for those teams what he did for Can'tlanta, which is kind of "not that much", :). Would be kinda' cool to bring him to the Big Easy, vault back up to the top of the NFC South and/or win a SuperBowl, breaking that unlucky career streak he's been on since day one, eh? Just to show the Failclowns how it's done when bringing in a stud RB, ;).

With Quinn coming in at HC I think he is going to look to draft a Lynch type of back and as much as I hate to admit this the Clowns have a chance to be scary good. They have drafted really well in my opinion over the years but haven't been able to put it together.

Always liked S Jackson...lunch pale type of guy, didn't trash talk. Was a beast in St Louie for years even though the O lines were crap. His body could be breaking down and he is 30+ years of age.

I do feel a little bad for the guy. He was a great back in his prime, just always played on a bad team.

I always had massive respect for him
There was a good documentary on him from his days at the Rams.

Been hearing a lot of talk about Todd Gurley (GA) and Melvin Gordon (WI) but not sure if they fit the bill. Lynch still doesn't have a deal with the Seahawks ... what if the Failclowns are thinking they can't find what they're looking for in the draft and are considering taking a shot at the "real McCoy"? Kind of a scary thought ....

I would hope they would not be able to get Lynch or anyone close to him. I love to watch a tough, physical guy like Lynch gash the he!! out of D's and taking over late in most games but to think of facing him in the same division up to possibly 3 times in a year, no thanks!! Our D would have to be in the top 10 every year and with what I've seen lately out of our D and the way we draft that might be to much of a task to ask for.

Who besides Julio Jones and Sean Weatherspoon has been that good for them?

I'm afraid Father Time has caught up to Steven Jackson. Great hard-nose runner but the glory days have passed. Just sorry he wound up in Atlanta.

Ryan, Douglas, White thats 3. They have drafted better than us for a few years and might be pretty good this season. I am in no way a fan of Atlanta but I also look at teams that might get their act togather especially in our division. A few players will make a huge difference and with the way they drafted if they improve they will be tough. Quinn will make their D tough if nothing else.
