Jimmy Graham fails to make ESPN's top tight ends list

While many were quick to jump the gun by saying the Saints’ offense was doomed after the deal. It may actually be quite the opposite. Now, the offense should be bringing back a little sense of unpredictability.

Defenses really began to figure out New Orleans’ scheme a season ago, which was usually get the ball to Jimmy Graham. He was targeted more than anybody. When the Saints’ opponents did lock down on Jimmy, he wasn’t very productive as a receiver, and his blocking was never a strong suit.

Not as smart as signing Brees, but it gets at least an Honorable Mention ranking!

I was saying that well before he got traded, and I know there were others who did as well. His first couple seasons I was banging the "he's either gonna kill you or be a great decoy" drum, but after that our offense became predictable. When he was double covered, it didn't matter, Brees still threw it to him... Which is something I've criticized Drew for.

So I'm hoping without that huge target Drew will look around the field the way he used to.

If Jimmy was making $5 million instead of $10 million, he would still be a Saint. Yes he couldn't block. Yes he could be shutdown by someone physical. But, the guy is a weapon if used properly. The Saints made a choice they had to. If Unger stays healthy and Anthony is what he appears to be, the Saints definitely got a great deal out of a less than ideal situation. The Seahawks also got a difference make their offense was sorely lacking. It was a win for everyone involved.

I think Jimmy started reading too much of his own press. Burning is right he was definitely riding Drew's coattails.
